Prospectus
The horse culture plays an important role in the Greenwood Village community. While it is home to the Denver Technology Center and its many contemporary, high-rise buildings, Greenwood Village is dotted with horse ranches, barns and stables. To honor this culture, the Curtis Center for the Arts is hosting “Horse Power,” an exhibit celebrating the art of the horse. The purpose of the show is to express the beauty of these magnificent creatures in many different styles and mediums. Approximately 50 - 60 pieces will be accepted for the exhibit.
Entry Fee: $25.00
REQUIREMENTS
Artist may submit up to two individual works of art and up to six images of the 1-2 works submitted.
Images - Minimum: 1, Maximum: 6 (with a maximum of two individual works submitted)
Only one piece of work per artist will be accepted into the exhibit.
Criteria
Each piece should capture the elements, essence and beauty of the horse. Only original equine fine art produced by the entering individual will be accepted. The following criteria apply:
- Artwork must be of original design and personal execution, completed within the last two years and not previously shown at the Curtis Center for the Arts.
- Artists may submit either one or two individual pieces of work, with a maximum of 6 images (not 6 pieces) in total. This may be any combination of 2D and 3D work (e.g. one 2D piece, two 2D pieces, one 3D piece, two 3D pieces, or one 2D and one 3D piece).
- The maximum size for two-dimensional work is 48" ’x 48" (including frame) and for three-dimensional a maximum of 50 lbs. Exceptions allowed for work specifically intended to be unframed.
- Entries must be original art in any forms of media, including photography (video, and giclée prints will not be accepted). Printed works for which the artist's hand manipulated the plates, stones or screens and which have been properly signed and numbered as a limited edition will be accepted.
- Artists may upload up a total of six images of their work (whether they are submitting one or two pieces). NOTE: artists submitting more than two pieces will have the extra pieces withdrawn by staff.
- Works submitted must be ready for installation (wire hanger preferred for two-dimensional wall pieces) upon arrival at the Center. Gallery-wrapped canvas with no exposed staples or tacks will be accepted only if it is properly wired for hanging and all exposed canvas is painted. Any works submitted or delivered that are not deemed ready for installation will be rejected.
A retail price must accompany all entries. The Curtis Center for the Arts will take a 30% commission on all sold art. Artists will be required to submit a W-9 in order to receive payment from sold works. Payments for sold artwork will occur within 30 days of the sale.

About Greenwood Village
Greenwood Village, Colorado is situated in Arapahoe County, just six miles south of Denver. The village was first incorporated as a town in 1950 and received its home rule charter in 1968. Once primarily a rural community, Greenwood Village has developed into a dynamic blend of urban and residential areas, to include nationally recognized business parks and select neighborhood associations. Greenwood Village is a unique community with a population of approximately 16,000 residents and a "daytime" population made up of approximately 45,000 members of our business community.
About Curtis Center for the Arts
Originally built as a one-room schoolhouse in 1914 to serve ten local students, the historic redbrick building is now home to the Curtis Center for the Arts. The Curtis School was formally opened in 1914 with no electricity or running water. The one acre of land the school sat on was donated by area resident Mary J. Curtis in 1901. In 1991 the building was dedicated as the Curtis Arts & Humanities Center. Today, the Curtis Center continues to be a learning center for the arts. The Center offers art instruction, rotating visual arts exhibits, lectures and the occasional performance. The Curtis Center for the Arts is owned and operated by the City of Greenwood Village.
