Buttonwood Art Space is proud to host the 10th Annual Visions of the Flint Hills Benefit and Sale to benefit research and preservation of the Flint Hills area of Kansas.  The 8,600 acre Konza Prairie and the surrounding Flint Hills region contain the largest remaining parcels of the Tallgrass Prairie that once cover 140 million acres in North America. In 2008, the Tallgrass Prairie was named one of the eight wonders of the State of Kasnas.

VISIONS OF THE FLINT HILLS BENEFIT AND SALE is a juried exhibition featuring art of this vanishing prairie.  All artworks depict or are derived from the Flint Hills region of Kansas.  The exhibit will run from October 5 through November 16, 2018 at Buttonwood Art Space, 3013 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64108.  Net proceeds from the event benefit Friends of Konza Prairie, a nonprofit organization which promotes educational research and experiences in the Konza Prairie Biological Station, an area of the Flint Hills just south of Manhattan, Kansas.  The Konza is an 8,600 acre tallgrass preserve of The Nature Conservancy managed by K-State's Division of Biology.

The region's sweeping horizons, waving grasses, wildlife and carpets of wildflowers captivate artists and enchance visitors.  Open to paintings, photographs, fiber, video and 3D works derived from or depicting the Flint Hills geographic area in Kansas.  Categories are: Painting, Photography, 3D, Other (Other may include flat fiber pieces, drawings, video, and non-traditional).  In 2017, over 40 pieces of artwork sold.  An even higher turnout for 2018 is expected!

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: August 20, 2018.  All entries must be submitted through CaFE at www.callforentry.org.  Artists may submit up to 4 pieces for a non-refundable $35.00 fee.  Juror: Elizabeth Seaton, curator for Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art.  Awards: $500 - Best of Show  $100 - First Place in each of the 4 categories.  All artwork will be juried on a piece by piece basis.

All art sales will benefit Friends of Konza Prairie (a 501(c)3 charity) with 50% of net sales going to the organization and the remaining 50% of each sale going to the artist.  If artwork is being shipped, work must be shipped by September 17, 2018.  Label should read:
ATTN: Visions Show
Buttonwood Art Space
3013 Main Street
Kansas City, MO 64108

All shipped works MUST include a Return Shipping Label and arrive at the gallery by September 17, 2018.  Any artwork shipped without a Return Shipping Label WILL NOT BE HUNG and will be the artists' responsibility to retrieve.

If artwork will be hand delivered, artists may deliver to Buttonwood Art Space Friday, September 28 from 9am - 4pm OR Saturday, September 29 from 10am - 11:30am.  Any artwork not received by 11:30am on Saturday, September 29 will NOT be hung.
