The Egg Show at ArtVale Gallery

The egg is one of the most universal symbols throughout the world, and therefore a great source of inspiration. The egg has generated myths and tales for many cultures from all over the world. From standard origin stories to superstitious traditions, every culture has at least one egg to crack... or cherish.

As a tangible object, the egg is a truly ‘real’ form. And yet, conceptually, it is a wholly surreal object impregnated with questions of duality:

The egg is at once both object and subject; it is both a symbol and a form; the origin and the continuation; the egg is internal and external; it is the vessel for transformation and evolution; the egg is food, sex and life.

Please submit your egg artworks by March 1st to be considered for the 3rd Annual Egg Show at ArtVale Gallery.

Eligibility and Conditions:

1. This call is for 2D and 3D works measuring less than 40 inches in any dimension (including frame); please include medium, dimensions, title and any relevant installation information with your submission.

2. All artists 18 and over currently residing in the US are eligible to apply.

3. Entry fee of $30 must be paid with the completion of any and all applications, artists can submit up to 5 images.

4. Please be sure to include a brief artist statement regarding the relevance of the egg within your artwork.

5. Applications are due no later than midnight March 1st, 2019.

6. Acceptance notifications will be received no later than March 8th, 2019.

7. All artwork must be delivered to ArtVale Gallery by March 30th, 2019.

8. All artwork must be for sale. Artist’s will receive 60% of the retail, ArtVale has a 40% commission rate of all artwork sold. Artists will receive payments via PayPal or check within 60 days of the close of the exhibition.


Juror:
The Egg Show is juried by the owner and operator of ArtVale Gallery and long time egg enthusiast Shoshana Zambryski-Stachel.
