Clingers

Kat Payge Art invites artists to apply to Clingers, a photographic group exhibition.  Clingers embodies the daily rituals we grasp to get us through life.  Are you holding on to something that holds you back?   Are you freed because of what you grasp?

Permanence, drugs, religion,

Expectations, people, security,

Material possessions, beliefs, music, and so on.

It is innate for humans to seek happiness.  We go after it through any means. The more we are attached, the harder we cling.

*During the exhibition opening reception of Clingers, artist Emily Scott will be hosting an interactive community art project using polaroids.  Emily will bring the community in to form a cohesive interaction between the Clingers art exhibiton and the general public, and asks you, "what is happiness?"  Is it simple or complex?  Positive or negative?  Unique or universal? Your mothers cooking?

Various art materials will be provided for use in manipulating the photographs and encouraging the community to make art and foster an understanding for one another.  Join us October 26th at 6pm during the Third Friday Artwalk at the Art District on Santa Fe!

Juror: Emily Scott

Clingers will be juried by artist, Emily Scott.  Emily graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with her BFA, while focusing coursework in psychology.  She moved from Philadelphia to San Diego, to Oahu, to her current residence in Denver. Through her travels, she’s been fascinated by the impact of reliance.  Whether it’s a healthy or unhealthy reliance, everyone finds peace within it. Emily photographs using a DSLR and film cameras. She manipulates digital photographs to embody an atmosphere beyond our time, and exposes film to reveal the soft serendipity of retro yesterdays.

Accepted Artwork Due: October 19

Exhibition Opening: October 26, 2018

Artwork Pick-up Date: November 29-30, 2018

*Kat Payge Art is not responsible for artwork left in the gallery after 10/20, any artwork left in the gallery will not be held*

Requirements:

Number of works to be submitted: Minimum - 1, Maximum - 3

Only photography will be accepted to this show.  Accepted artwork will not exceed 24” x 24” in either direction.

Art that is accepted must not be shipped with packing peanuts or it will be returned immediately.  Art must have an included return shipment label and packaging.

Art must be ready to hang and wired, art with sawtooth hangers will not be accepted.
