ARTIST ELIGIBILITY

This exhibit is open to artists 21 and older living or working within a 50-mile radius of Evendale, OH (10500 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45241). All fine art disciplines are encouraged for submission. Eligible media include paintings (oils, acrylic, watercolor, and pastels), sketches, etchings, and sculptures. No photography or manipulated photography, digital or any other media. No painted giclee prints or any other type of reproductions are permitted.

 

ENTRY PROCESS

All entries will be submitted via CallforEntry.org. CallforEntry (Café) is a free service and provides a comprehensive “help” area. Evendale Cultural Arts Center staff are also available to help with procedural problems and can be reached at susan.gordy@evendaleohio.org or 513-563-1350.

 

·       A maximum of five pieces of art can be submitted; up to three can be accepted.

·       All artwork must be original and created from conception to completion by the artist.  Work that is copied from other artist’s work, copied from published photos, or photos taken by someone other than the artist will not be accepted. As this is held in a family recreation center, artwork will be evaluated for appropriateness. 

·       Digital images of the art must be submitted at CallForEntry.org for jury consideration. Entries and fees must be received by the application deadline. Please follow the application instructions at CallforEntry.org. You can pay fees directly at the website or mail a check payable to:

·       Entry fees, placed before the Early Bird March 1 deadline, are $20 for the first piece and $5 for each additional piece. Thereafter, fees are $30 for the first piece and $10 for each additional piece. Final deadline is March 8. Evendale residents who complete the submission process by the Early Bird deadline are free of charge. Evendale residents must email susan.gordy@evendaleohio.org for their coupon code when applying at CallforEntry.org

            Entries submitted without fees or after the deadline will not be eligible.

 NEED HELP PREPARING DIGITAL FILES?

 Our photographer can photograph up to 5 paintings or prepare up to 5 images per artist for submission. To schedule a session, please contact Susan Gordy at 563-1350 or susan.gordy@evendaleohio.org.

 NOTIFICATION AND ART DELIVERY

Once your images are juried, you will be notified by email after the jury process is complete. An approximate date of notification is listed on the schedule. Accepted art must be hand-delivered to the Evendale Recreation Center during scheduled times.

 PREPARATION OF ACCEPTED ARTWORK

We reserve the right to refuse paintings that do not comply with these parameters. Size and weight of work is limited to that which can be moved by one person. Any work that is hung must weigh less than 20 pounds and measure no larger than 36 X 36 without special approval. Unsuitable or damaged framing will be disqualified. Artwork must be appropriately framed or 1 1/4 inch or wider museum wrapped canvas and wired for hanging. Museum wrapped without frame must have finished edges. No art with sawtooth hangers will be accepted. Labels must be securely attached to the back or bottom of the art with artist’s name, title of art, medium, price, and email address.  We prefer watercolor and pastels be framed with plexiglass; any works larger than 12 X 16 must be framed with plexiglass.

 LIABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY

Accepted entries must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show. All reasonable care will be taken with artwork. However, the Village of Evendale or volunteers cannot be held responsible for loss or damage. Artists who desire to insure their work need to make their own arrangements.

 SALES

Artists are encouraged to offer their work for sale. Any work not priced will be marked “not for sale.” The ECAC will take a 10% processing fee for works sold via credit card through the Village of Evendale. The Village of Evendale takes no commission on sales where payment is made directly to the artist and is not responsible for taxes on works sold. Purchased artwork will remain a part of the exhibit until the close on Monday.

Best in Show: $500 & One-Person Show at ECAC. Mutually acceptable dates.

2nd Place: $350

3rd Place: $200

  2020 JUROR

MaryBeth Karaus is a graduate of the DAAP program of the University of Cincinnati. Pushing the boundaries of traditional still life, she strives for originality and excellence in composition while still respecting the importance of classical painting.  

In 2006 she won the Top Award of Excellence from the juried exhibition of the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati. In the last ten years, her work was accepted into the Oil Painters of America National Juried Exhibition seven times, and she was awarded status of Signature Member of OPA in 2015. In 2017 she won the Impressionist Honorable Mention at the National Show for her “Fragile Morning” piece. She was very honored to be asked to be a demo artist for the 2017 National Convention.

In 2018, MaryBeth was awarded The Dorothy Driehaus Mellin Fellowship for Midwestern Artists from The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, as well as the Members’ Choice Honorable Mention Award in the Associate & Signature Division at the 27th National Juried Exhibition of the Oil Painters of America for the painting “Orange Romance”.  At the Virtuoso of the OPA, judge Daniel Greene awarded her third place for her painting “Nature’s Blush” in 2019. 

She also was a Finalist in the Art Renewal Center’s International ARC Salon Competitions in 2017 and 2018.
