Sculpture Evergreen has established a program of public art acquisition that will beautify public buildings and open spaces in Evergeen, CO, located in the foothills
west of Denver. A critical component of Sculpture Evergreen's mission is the annual Sculpture Walk. This is a juried exhibition of up to 16 large sculptures suitable for OUTDOOR DISPLAY. All works must be original. A stipend of $700 will be awarded for each accepted sculpture. In addition, eac year there is a Juried Award of $1000 for artistic excellence as well as a People's Choice Award voted upon by the public.
Sculpture Evergreen has the right to use photos of your work for promotional purposes. Sculpture Evergreen will provide full insurance for all installed artwork. Sculptures must be designed and fabricated to withstand wind gusts of up to 100 mph, which are common in Evergreen.. If, for any reason, the artwork does not meet the requirements set forth by the committee, the committee reserves the right to reject the final artwork. Sculpture Evergreen shall act as agent for the artist's sculptures included in the Walk. Sculpture Evergreen will receive a commission of twenty-five percent (25%) of the purchase price for any sales occurring during the time the sculpture is included in the Sculpture Walk. Sculpture Evergreen may elect to purchase the art for itself or in partnership with other entities, in which case the artist will grant Sculpture Evergreen a twenty-five percent (25%) discount off the purchase price. Replicas of the art that is sold as a result of the exhibition during the walk shall be subject to the same commission/discount terms as above. Sculpture Evergreen shall make reasonable efforts to sell the art during the Sculpture Walk. Sculptures will be on display for one year, until June, 2021, with the possibility of a few being held over for an additional year with artist's permission. An additional stipend will be paid. Sculptures must arrive in Evergreen on Friday, June 5, 2020. Sculptures will be installed Saturday, June 6, 2020. Artists must be present for their installation. Sculptures will remain in place for one year. Artists must also be present for the de-installation the first week of June, 2021. Sculptures must be soundly and professionally constructed of durable materials suitable for OUTDOOR EXHIBIT. They must withstand wind gusts up to 100 mph without incurring damage, and have a steel mounting plate for welding to a pedestal, have another suitable attachment method; or be of sufficient weight and durability that the sculpture can be safely and securely placed on the ground without toppling, or being removed in an unauthorized fashion. Sculpture must be at least 42” tall to be considered. Many of our sites demand larger sculptures, and pieces standing between 4-12 feet in height have the best chance of being chosen The $30 entry fee includes entry of up to 3 pieces (nine photos in all). For each submitted sculpture, 3 photos must be provided: frontal, rear, and one detailed image. All works must be original. Accepted works must be identical to the images submitted. There is a chance your sculpture will be purchased outright by one of the area’s many art patrons. Sculpture Evergreen receives a 25% commission on any sales occuring during the time the sculpture is included in the Walk. Since the inception of this competition, more than 35 pieces have been purchased for inclusion in Sculpture Evergreen's permanent collection and many more have been purchased by individuals. Entries can be submitted through CaFE by January 31, 2020 (midnight Mountain Standard Time). Artists will be notified of acceptance by phone in February, 2020. Sculptures must arrive in Evergreen on Friday, June 5, 2020 and will be installed the following day, Saturday, June 6, 2020. Artists must be present for the installation. Overnight accomodations will be provided by Sculpture Evergreen for those artists traveling more than 50 miles from Evergreen. Artists must also be present for the de-installation in June of 2021.Artists are invited to a Reception in their honor on Friday evening before the installation and to a celebratory brunch on Saturday following the installation.
