LA Artcore (LAAC) is pleased to announce our 3rd Annual Online Photographic
Competition and Exhibition!

The February 2019 exhibit will kick off the celebration of LA Artcore’s 40 years of supporting contemporary art and developing the careers of visual artists of diverse cultural backgrounds. This competition seeks outstanding photography completed in the last two years. Please see the guidelines below. 

Exhibition:
50 juror-selected images will be exhibited at LA Artcore's historic downtown
gallery in The Los Angeles Brewery Arts Colony, one of the oldest and largest
live-work spaces in the world. Covering 23 acres in 14 buildings, 500-700 artists
and businesses call The Brewery Arts Colony their home.

Entry Fee: $35.00 for 3 entries, additional entry $10.00 ea. up to 10 entries.

Awards: As determined by our jury panel upon installation of the works, cash awards will be assessed in the amounts of; $500 (1st Place) $250 (2nd Place) $100 (3rd Place) and two Honorable Mentions

Eligibility:
The 3rd Annual Online Photographic Competition and Exhibition is open to all amateur and professional photographers over the age of 18, residing in North America,
working in all still photographic media. Any and all subject matter is
eligible. All work must have been completed on or after January 1, 2017, and not
previously entered in this competition. LAAC staff and Board Members are not
eligible.

Up to ten wall-mounted works not exceeding 48" in width, 60" height, 24" in
depth and 20 lbs. in weight. No video or audio at this time

Jurors:
• Sarah Lee is a longtime Los Angeles gallerist, art and photography curator, critic and art consultant, Sarah Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea. Sarah Lee studied Modern Art History and Asian History with an emphasis on art and architecture at the University of Southern California. Most recently, she was owner and director for Sarah Lee Artworks and Projects at Bergamot Station. The gallery’s focus was photography. In addition to being an advisory member of the Queensland Centre for Photography in Australia, Sarah Lee has worked with independent Japanese curator KoKo Yamagashi.

Sarah Lee has served as trustee, Executive Director of and guest curator at the Korean American Museum in Los Angeles, and has been on the Japan-American National Museum’s advisory council since 1995.

• Sarah Hadley is an LA based artist, curator and festival producer. She studied Art History and Photography in college and for the past 20 years she has worked as an independent producer and curator of exhibitions and festivals. Hadley's own artwork is held in public and private collections and her work has been exhibited and published in galleries, museums and publications worldwide. Hadley is also currently the Director of Marketing at the Los Angeles Center of Photography.

• Aline Smithson is a photographic artist, educator and the founder and Editor-in Chief of Lenscratch. After a career as a New York Fashion Editor, Aline has had over 40 solo exhibitions and has been published in The New York Times, PDN, The NewYorker, Communication Arts, Eyemazing, Sivershotz magazine and more. In 2015 the Magenta Foundation published, Self & Others: Portrait as Autobiography. In 2016, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum commissioned Aline to create a series of portraits and her work is currently on exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Aline is a reviewer and juror for photographic organizations around the country. She has been teaching at the Los Angeles Center of Photography since 2001. She lives and works in Los Angeles.

Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance (during shipping) of
artworks. All shipments must include a prepaid UPS/FedEx return label and be
shipped in a container appropriate for re-use in return shipping.
 Hand
deliveries and pickups should be coordinated with Pranay Reddy. Please include an envelope with an image and description of the work along with the price for administrative use. 

Any work left at the Brewery gallery 5 days after the close of the exhibition will be
subject to a $10 per day storage fee. Any work left at the Brewery Gallery for
more than two weeks is subject to sale or disposal without notification. Please note the condition of shipped work before you send. LA Artcore will conduct a condition report upon receiving each artwork. 

Artworks will be handled carefully and displayed in a secure gallery. LA Artcore
reserves the right to photograph artworks in the exhibition for publicity and
educational purposes. The gallery does not discriminate with regard to race,
color, religion, sex, age, national origin, or veteran status.
COMMISSION - LA Artcore will retain 35% of all sales; artwork selected by LA
Artcore for exhibition must be available for sale.

If a piece of your work sold, please observe LA Artcore's commission structure of 35% suggested donation to LA Artcore and 65% to the artist.
