ON EDGE is an annual juried exhibition of contemporary work by Colorado artists pushing the boundaries of materials and concept. EDGE Gallery has exhibited groundbreaking contemporary art for 30 years and has been instrumental in presenting important experimental work in our region. All artists residing in Colorado are invited to submit their work. As always On Edge Exhibitions are juried without artist names visible to the juror and Edge members do not submit their work.

This show is open to contemporary art of any medium, with an emphasis on work that challenges the margins of material, content, artistic process, and technology. The merits and definition of “contemporary” will be defined by the juror.

This year, Adam Gildar will jury our 2019 show. He is the owner and director of Gildar Gallery in Denver, Colorado. Opened in 2012, the gallery has been recognized for its program that showcases emerging contemporary artists and works to expand the legacies of important historical figures regionally, nationally and internationally. The gallery has also included a focus on cultural exchange working with partnering galleries, curators and writers to organize exhibitions both in Denver and abroad, most recently this has included collaborative exhibitions in Mexico City via Condo Mexico and New York City via Vacation Gallery. The gallery regularly participates in national and international art fairs that have included Untitled, Miami Beach, ArtBo Colombia, and Material, Mexico City.

Adam Gildar has also contributed writing and an interview with founding members of the Drop City artist community to the catalog for the 2016 Walker Art Center’s traveling exhibition Hippie Modern: The Search for Utopia. He has also served as the director of the arts organization ArtPlant that has organized a number of artist residencies and symposia. Through ArtPlant in 2015 Gildar co- curated the Biennial Ambassadors artist exchange program and exhibition for the Biennial of the Americas.
