The artwork that is ultimately selected for the project must be reflective of the site, taking into account the precincts overall spatial and aesthetic properties, and encourage interactivity and/or functionality. Project Description

Artwork implemented for the project will explore aspects of the human condition specific to the “global marketplace of ideas” for individual and social development. The selected work should embody characteristics of outreach and the spirit of education in business communication; literally, abstractly and otherwise considered. The proposal must take into account the use of the site, including the broad scope of individuals that experience the College of Business. The installed artwork must not in any way interfere with daily operations.

Site Adjacency

The new Business School interior is approximately 170,000 square foot facility along with a 600,000 to 700,000 square foot area, which will nearly double the space for business education at Clemson University. The facility includes offices, group meeting rooms, study areas, lounges, an atrium, auditoriums, and classrooms. The new facility will be constructed in a high traffic area near Bowman Field, Sikes Hall, Douthit Hills, and downtown Clemson. This new facility will bring most business activity into close proximity and allow for more efficient daily operations.

Project Details

The breadth of the project area includes adjacencies to the heavy traffic road SC-93 N, one main drive leading into campus, and historic Bowman Field. The  artwork can be interior, exterior, or a mixture of both within Clemson University’s College of Business area. Several finalists will be selected and awarded an honorarium of $2,000 to submit a detailed proposal.
