The Light Factory is pleased to announce its 11th Juried Annuale, an international photography competition that will showcase challenging and inventive new work from photographers and artists throughout the international photographic community. From traditional to digital, still and moving, all photographic techniques and approaches are welcome. This can include works that stretch the boundaries of the assumed definitions of photographic-based media. The exhibition will consist of 4-6 photographers, each of whom will be represented by 5-7 images (size permitting).

The Light Factory is a center for photography and film located in Charlotte, North Carolina. TLF is dedicated to inspiring and empowering our community through thought-provoking exhibitions, world-class education, and vibrant community engagement. Throughout its 45 years of continuous operation, The Light Factory has featured artists such as Sally Mann, Ansel Adams, Tina Barney, Debbie Luster, Pinky Bass, Keith Carter, Annie Leibovitz, Ralph Gibson, Susan Kae Grant, Edward Weston, Jerry Uelsmann, Richard Renaldi, Bill Viola, Andres Serrano, Mary Ellen Mark, and many more.

ELIGIBILITY

The Light Factory’s eleventh juried Annualeis open to everyone. Entrants must enter 5-7 images from a specific series or body of work. Artists may submit up to two different applications. If you submit an installation, it should include only 5-7 images. Please include a short statement (no more than 150 words) about the work along with a current résumé or curriculum vitae.

 

MEDIA

All photographic techniques and approaches are welcome. This can include works that stretch the boundaries of the assumed definitions of photography-based media.

 

ENTRY FEE

$35 non-refundable entry fee per series of 5-7 images. Artists may submit up to two applications. 

 

DELIVERY AND RETURN OF WORK

Selected artists are responsible for packing (in a reusable container) and paying for the shipping and transit insurance of work to and from The Light Factory. Please, no packing peanuts. Work may also be hand-delivered. All work must arrive ready to install. If the work is not gallery-ready or does not exhibit good craftsmanship, it may be omitted from the exhibition. Accepted work that differs significantly from the entry images or that suffers from poor presentation will be disqualified. All work must arrive at The Light Factory by March 15, 2019. Accepted work will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. All work will be returned (or should be picked up) by July 1, 2019. Artists are responsible for all shipping and travel costs. 

 

SALE OF WORK

All work, unless indicated as not for sale [NFS], will be available for sale during the exhibition. The Light Factory will retain a commission of 40% of the listed sale price on all artwork sold during the exhibition.

 

PUBLICITY

Please note that if you are selected you will be asked to provide your image(s) again to The Light Factory in high resolution for publicity purposes. Additionally, information provided in this entry form will be used in publicity such as on The Light Factory website, in e-newsletters, printed gallery guides, or in other materials. You will always be given credit for your work.
