Gallatin Art Crossing (GAC) is pleased to announce Call for Entries for the 2019-20’ show and installation. Creation or contribution for the Gallatin Art Crossing is an opportunity to have your work marketed and on display in downtown Bozeman, Montana for one year and available for sale during that time. Submission fee is $15 per piece and the application deadline is June 8, 2019, with the installation and reception in August. Pieces need to be ready to install and withstand outdoor conditions without maintenance for one year.

PROJECT DETAILS
The GAC exhibit hosts a variety of artwork introducing viewers to many artistic approaches. The goal of the program is to add at least one piece to the permanent collection each year. Fundraising incorporates a variety of techniques and entities such as community challenges and the solicitation of individuals and businesses for contribution.

    • Sustainable for a minimum of 1 year without maintenance.
  • Design Parameters - Locations and options vary greatly, please be open to options. Email any specific questions to: info@GallatinArtCrossing.org.
2. Installation
All selected pieces will be installed during the same week at the end of August. The 2019 dates are August 26-30. Installation times and logistics must be finalized with GAC before August 19 to make sure we are able to get the necessary equipment and personnel scheduled. All pieces must arrive ready for install and meet these requirements:
  • Substantial base plate or flanges.
  • Plate or flanges must allow for 5/8” or 3/4” bolted connections. GAC anchors all sculptures to preexisting concrete pads using  1/2” hardware.
3. Duration of Installation
The selected sculptures will be open to the viewing public for 12 months from August 2019 to August 2020. Should the artist decide to keep their piece in place for more than 12 months, this agreement will remain in place until it is removed from the GAC program. Artists may have the option to keep their same work in the show on a case by case scenario. All Sculptures will be displayed with a plaque containing the artist name and program information. Artists give GAC irrevocable reproduction rights, copyrights, and permissions, in connection with the photographs/negatives/videos/digital images taken of them during the installation period, to use and reuse said photographs/negatives/videos/digital images either by themselves or in conjunction with other photographs/negatives/videos/digital images in any medium and for any purposes related to GAC programs and services as well as using their names in connection therewith.

4. Stipend
GAC will offer $1,000 stipends to all new artists for 2019, to be distributed within 30 days after the opening reception. We must have a completed W-9 from each new artist prior to releasing their stipend. We will also provide lodging for out of town artists upon request. The artist is responsible for transportation and installation and decommissioning of the artwork. The Art Crossing will provide signage to identify the artwork, feature the artist on our website, www.GallatinArtCrossing.org and will also feature the artist on a mobile tour.

5. People’s Choice Award
Sculptures are displayed and voted for online at www.GallatinArtCrossing.org. The board will compile the ballots and award the People’s Choice Award prior to the annual reception in August. The winning artist will receive a $500 award and the winning piece will be featured on all printed and online marketing materials throughout the following year.

6. Purchases
The GAC will handle all sales to the public while the piece is installed in the program and will retain 35% of the agreed upon price. The commission will decrease by 5% per year the piece remains on display as part of the Art Crossing, up to 3 years at which time the commission will remain at 20%. One of the goals of the GAC is to purchase at least one piece each year. GAC will pay asking price minus the current commission percentage for each piece it purchases for the permanent collection.
  • Private Purchase - If a piece is sold to a private buyer during the year, the buyer is asked to retrieve the piece at the end of the twelve month period.
7. Submission Deadline
Applications must be delivered by mail, by hand, or electronically by 5:00pm on June 8, 2019 any submissions received after that time will not be considered. Please mail your $15 per piece submission fee(s) to the address below, checks payable to Gallatin Art Crossing. Artists will be notified of their acceptance into the program no later than 14 days after the submission deadline.

Please include your artist statement and one or more pictures of each piece being submitted, including at least one photo of sculpture base and attaching areas.
