JUROR:  Leigh Culver
Leigh Culver is an art historian, teacher, and painter.  She holds a doctorate in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania and has taught American Art at the University of Notre Dame for many years.  Prior to teaching, she worked in the curatorial departments at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and in education at the Corcoran Gallery of Art.  More recently, Leigh  has returned to her studio art roots.  She has won multiple watercolor awards in juried shows in the Mid-Atlantic region and recently served as president of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists.  She is presently a faculty member of The Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Artists are invited to submit up to three (3) entries.  All entries must be the artist’s original work, completed within the last 3 years.  Oil, Watercolor, Acrylic, Collage, Mixed Media (to include Fabrics), Pastel, Drawing, Hand-pulled Prints, Photographs*, and Sculpture of size and weight easily handled by one person are acceptable media.
* Photography entries must be in the edition of one.  Accepted pieces can include; Traditional, Digital, and Innovative.  Multiple copies of the same image will not be allowed in the show as hanging and/or bin pieces.
** At judge’s discretion, Graphic Arts & Painting, 3-Dimensional Artwork and Photography MAY be judged separately.
THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT ELIGIBLE
.    Works accepted in previous Treasury of Art shows.
.    Works depicting nudity, violence, weapons, drugs, or drug related items
.    Giclee reproductions
.    Works unsuitably framed.  All artwork must be clean and suitably framed. Entries must be ready to hang with hooks (hooks attached to the frame approximately 1/3 distance from the top of the frame) and wire; works protected by glass or plexiglass if a watercolor or pastel or when otherwise necessary to protect the artwork. Saw tooth hangers, clips, wet canvases, soiled or poorly matted works, frames in poor condition will not be accepted. IF THESE REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT MET, your entry will be disqualified. Disqualified works, or works not accepted by the juror, are not eligible for a fee refund.
CRITERIA FOR DISPLAY
.    Mats must be acid-free board, clean, and well cut.
.    Tape used to secure work and backing board must be acid-free material.
.    Glazing must be glass or plexiglas and free of cracks and scratches.
.    Unframed canvases must be gallery wrapped with painted edges.
.    Entries must be dry and ready for display.
.    Entries consisting of multiple pieces will be considered multiple entries.
.    No piece over 48” (2304 square inches) in any direction, including frame, can be accommodated.
.    Local sculptor must provide floor pedestal for display if needed.  Non-local sculptor does not have to provide a floor pedestal.
.    All work must be FOR SALE.

BIN PIECES
All registered artists may bring up to three (3) original, matted, unframed pieces for sale in the bins.  Mats must be clean and well cut.  All bin pieces must be neatly and securely wrapped in shrink wrap or in professional clear bags.  Reproductions and giclees are not acceptable.  Maximum size 22”x28” (616 sq.in.).  All bin pieces must be clearly labeled with the artist’s name, title of the work, medium and price.  This information must also be listed on one 3”x 5” card and local artists must turn the card in at the bin receiving table with the respective bin pieces.  Minimum selling price per bin piece is $35.  *Photography—see eligibility under entry agreements.

SALES
A 25% commission will be charged on all sales, including bin pieces.  VAS will collect sales tax.

REGISTRATION, FEES AND ENTRY PROCEDURE
Registration must be received by Friday, March 1, 2019.  
All requested information must be provided on the registration form.  
Fees must be paid at the time of registration and are non-refundable. 
REGISTRATION FEE:
VAS MEMBER fee: $35 for up to three (3) pieces.  $10 discount code will be provided to the members.
The NON-MEMBER* fee: $45 for up to three (3) pieces.

ENTRY PROCEDURE (Online Entry ONLY): 
Call for Entry (CaFÉ) is managing all online entries on www.callforentry.org.  This is a 5-step process:
  1. Register with CaFÉ
  2. Create your personal account (FREE)
  3. Upload images onto your CaFÉ account
  4. Apply to VAS TART CALL
  5. Pay online by credit card or PayPal, or mail a check to:

All artists will receive an email indicating whether or not they have been selected into the show.

PRIZES
$1,700 in prizes will be awarded.  Three cash prizes totaling $900 will be given, plus additional merchandise and gift certificates.  

DELIVERY
All accepted work from local artists must be delivered to the Vienna Community Center gym Thursday, April 4, 2019, between 10:00 am and noon.  Accepted non-local artists work must be shipped to arrive by March 29, 2019, and include prepaid return shipping.  Bin pieces may be shipped along with framed work to Vienna Art Center, 243 Church Street NW, Suite 100 LL, Vienna, VA 22180.  It is suggested that artists wishing liability protection during shipping insure their works independently. All registered artists please label entries (on the back of hanging art or appropriate place on standing or sculptural pieces) with the following information:
  1. Your name
  2. Title of entry
  3. Medium
  4. Price
SHOW CLOSING
All unsold works must be retrieved on Sunday, April 7, 2019 between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm.  Unclaimed art will incur a $10/piece/day handling and storage fee.  All non-local artwork will be shipped back to the artist as soon as possible.
