BOULDER COUNTY COLORADO ARTISTS ONLY!
Celebrate Our Fair, Celebrate Our History, Celebrate Our Community!
Arts Longmont is working with the Boulder County Fair to select an artist for the 150th Boulder County Fair Poster.  Boulder County Artists are encouraged to enter the 150th Boulder County Fair Poster Contest. Interested artists are asked to create a commemorative poster image reflecting the artist's rendition/interpretation of the Boulder County Fair.

The final winning artist will receive $1000. No other compensation will be provided.  The winning artist will retain ownership of the work of art and may choose to make a separate agreement with the Boulder County Fair to exhibit or sell the original artwork.   A limited number of signed, limited-edition prints of the work will be available for sale to benefit the Boulder County Fair (a non-profit organization). Posters will also be available.  The limited-edition print and the posters will be designed by a graphic designer selected by the Boulder County Fair.  All artists must agree to the usage of their image by the Boulder County Fair in producing the poster and promoting the Fair.

The selection process will be as follows:
The deadline for entries is February 15, 2019.
Five finalists will be selected based on the images submitted with this call as well as the artist statement about how they will approach this process.  The images and artist statements submitted with this call will be used by a special panel to select the winning artist.
The final selection will be made March 8th, 2019 by a panel working with the Boulder County Fair.  The winning artist will have until April 10th, 2019 to create an original work of art that will be a major element in the limited-edition print and poster.
All artists submitting to this call must agree to the use of the image of their artwork in the design and production of the limited-edition print and poster by the Boulder County Fair.

The final artwork to be used in the print and poster need not make direct reference to the Boulder County Fair, but the final artist should consider the tagline, logo, and description below.

The Boulder County Fair 150th Anniversary Celebration culminates in August 2019, but we will celebrate the entire year!  One of the ways that we will celebrate is with an official poster designed just for the 150th.

Artists should consider the tagline and logo when developing their work.
Our Fair
Our History
Our Community

One hundred and fifty years ago community members from throughout Boulder County founded what would become known as the Boulder County Fair - the oldest Fair in Colorado!  Our Fair has a rich History - one that is worth Celebrating! Fairs were begun as a means of agricultural education and innovation. The modern American agricultural fair retains an educational element but is largely about the exhibition and competition of the best agricultural and domestic products as well as fun and entertainment.
The Boulder County Fair continues with many of the same things that our ancestors did:
• Growing and raising our own food
• Making our own food, clothing and other essentials
• Recognizing the role of agriculture
• Education concerning the latest trends
• Gathering together as a community
• Celebrating families
• Indulging in fun food
• Sharing your Fair stories
• Sharing your Fair photos
• Sharing your Fair artifacts
