Description:  Pikes Peak Watercolor Society sponsors the International Watermedia Exhibition biennially, every other year.  This years Exhibition will be hosted by the Pikes Peak Library District, Library 21c.  For additional information regarding Pikes Peak Watercolor Society, please visit our website at www.pikespeakwatercolorsociety.com.  For questions about entries, please contact the Chairperson, Mary Piche, at email: watermedia2019@gmail.com.

 

Eligibility:  

· The exhibition is open to all artists, 18 years or older.  

· Paintings must be predominantly watermedia on paper, claybord, Yupo, illustration board, silk or canvas.

· Watermedia includes watercolor, acrylic, or gouache.  

· Paintings must be original and sole work of the artist.  No work done in a class or workshop setting.  

· No copies of another artists work or recognizable use of anothers copyrighted intellectual property will be accepted.

· Collage material must be painted by the artist using watermedia.  

· No computer generated art or prints are allowed.  

· Work must not be more than 3 years old, and not previously shown in a PPWS Watermedia Exhibition.

· PPWS and Juror reserve the right to remove or decline any art deemed unacceptable or controversial.

· Accepted entries may not be removed or substituted before the close of the exhibition. 

· Only one painting will be accepted from an individual artist. 

Artwork Requirements:

Maximum frame size is 1430 square inches                             

Maximum image size is 1280 square inches                              

Minimum image size is 80 inches                              

Framed artwork must be single/double matt in white or off white only.                 

Simple frame only.  All art must be framed including gallery wrapped.                                         

All entries will be juried for acceptance from digital images.

  All works must be professionally presented, ready for hanging with wire and hardware in place.  No saw-tooth hangers.  All works needing protection must use Plexiglass. (Paintings under GLASS will NOT be accepted.)
 

 

Entry Submission Process Using CallforEntry.org (CaFÉ).

· Go to CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org 

· Artists should set up a profile on CaFÉ or log into their existing profile, upload artwork as digital files.  CaFE will automatically resize images.

· Click on Apply to Calls, search for PPWS International Watermedia 2019.”  Follow entry instructions, click to enter and pay by credit card or PayPal.

· When uploading images to your portfolio and submitting them to the call, use the image size dimensions, not the frame dimensions.

· Submitting a work of art to this exhibition shall constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to comply fully with the conditions and terms set forth in this Prospectus as well as in the Acceptance Notification and Guidelines.

· CaFÉ does not permit any image changes or replacements after submission.

· Detailed instructions for shipping and delivery will be provided in the Acceptance Notification Guidelines.  All shipped art will be charged a handling fee, $50 for international and $25 for domestic.

 

Entry Fees: - Entry fees are nonrefundable.  

· Entry fee of $40 non-members, up to 3 entries; $30 members, up to 3 entries.  

 

 Juror of Selection:  Martha Mans, AWS 

 Martha Mans is a master painter who has been painting in watercolor and oil for most of her life.  She has also taught painting for the greater part of her career, helping many people to achieve a greater level of understanding of paint and design in their own work.  Her teaching accomplishments have been relayed through workshops all over the world in places such as Italy, France, Turkey, Brazil, as well as all over the United States.  Besides learning art, her students have enjoyed adventures on Clipper Ships in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas, as well as exploring old plantations in the jungles of Brazil.

 

Martha's own painting accomplishments have spanned a long career.  She has won many best of show awards and been the feature of many one-woman shows along with having had many articles on her paintings included in magazines and books.  She is also an author of a childrens book, Gordon, illustrated with her watercolors.  She has been elected to signature membership in the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.  Her work is represented by the Broadmoor Galleries in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and The Owen Contemporary Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Workshop Cost:  A deposit of $100.00 must be paid to register, and the full amount of $250.00 for PPWS members and $300.00 for non-members is due May 30, 2019.  Checks should be made payable to Pikes Peak Watercolor Society and mailed to PPWS Watermedia Chairperson, at PO Box 355, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

 
Sales:  PPWS will charge 30% commission on sales.  Paintings must be for sale and be priced to sell.  Changes in price are not permitted after entry in CaFÉ.

 

Catalog:  PPWS will provide accepted entrants a full color catalog displaying all paintings juried into the exhibition.  Additional catalogs will be available for $15 each.

 

Use of Accepted Works:  Your entry grants PPWS and Pikes Peak Library District permission to photograph all accepted work for file, promotional or catalog purposes.

 

Shipping, Delivery:  Accepted artwork must be shipped to arrive the week of May 26th and must include a check or money order for $25 for domestic and $50 for International handling fees.  Make check payable to PPWS.

Shipped artwork must be sent prepaid in a substantial reusable container.  For return shipping, a prepaid return shipping label must be enclosed. (FedEx, UPS, or DHL only)  No loose packing material (peanuts or shred) is allowed.  We recommend Masterpak art shipping boxes www.masterpak-usa.com.  If a prepaid return label is not present, artist will be disqualified.

Liability:  Although the utmost care will be taken in handling artwork, neither PPWS, PPWS representatives or Pikes Peak Library District will be responsible for damage or loss whatever the cause.  Artists are encouraged to carry their own insurance.
