Chicago Sculpture International, in collaboration with the Chicago Park District, is seeking proposals from artists for the 2019-2020 Sculpture in the Parks Exhibition.

Works must be large scale and suitable for outdoors.  They will be placed near cultural centers (field houses) within the parks, as determined by CPD.  They will be installed on hardscape or softscape (grass), so artists must be prepared for either type of installation.  There are no concrete pads for sculptures.  Sculptures will be on view for one year, from November 2019 to November 2020 (exact dates to be determined).

Each new sculpture will receive a $2000 stipend, and sculptures retained at cultural centers from the 2018-2019 exhibition will receive a $500 stipend.  Interested sculptors, including current exhibitors, must submit an application for 2019-2020 in order for their work to be considered for exhibition.

Application Deadline:  Friday, September 6, 2019, 11:59 PM CST

Eligibility:  This RFP is open to professional artists or artist teams 18 years of age or older.  Artists whose proposals are accepted, if they are not already CSI members, will be asked to join.  There are many membership benefits, including exhibition and networking opportunities, a presence on our website and access to valuable professional information.  See what we’re all about at:  www.chicagosculpture.org.

Also, exhibitors must have, according to CPD, “Commercial General Liability Insurance (Primary and Umbrella) on an occurrence basis with limits not less than $1,000,000 single limit per occurrence and $2,000,000 in the aggregate for bodily injury, personal injury and property damage.  The Chicago Park District is to be named as an Additional Insured on a Primary, non-contributory basis.”

How to apply:

Submit one or two sculptures, two images of each.  If you have a sculpture currently at a cultural center and would like it to remain, you can submit that sculpture as well, for a maximum of three sculptures.  Note:  If your sculpture is currently in its second year of exhibition at a cultural center, this is its final year, so do not re-submit this piece.
