Open Orange 2019 - A ValleyArts Exhibition
ValleyArts is pleased to announce our Open Orange 2019 juried exhibition is open for submissions.
Open to artists in NJ, NY, PA, and CT, working in two dimensional media, this exhibit will be held in the ValleyArts Community Gallery in the Valley Arts District of Orange and West Orange, NJ.
Our nationally prominent jurors are:
Nigel Freeman is the director of the African-American Fine Art department at Swann Auction Galleries, NYC. He is the print appraiser on the PBS television show, Antiques Roadshow. Freeman has a MFA in painting from Columbia University
Diedra Harris-Kelley is the co- director of the Romare Beardon Foundation with a history of working in the fine arts industry. She has curatorial experience with photography, painting and contemporary art. Harris-Kelley has a MFA in painting and drawing from University of Michigan.
Enter
Artists, 18 years and over, may submit 1, 2 or 3 works maximum. Jury selection is based on individual pieces of artist's submission. Artwork size should be no larger than 36 inches by 36 inches, oversized pieces will not be considered for the show. All 2D original artwork will be considered - painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, printmaking and other works on canvas, paper and board. All work should be dated and produced in the last three years. There is a $35 non-refundable fee for the application. Artist Drop Off/Pick Up:
Please note; accepted works must be hand delivered and unpacked at the Community Gallery, 400 S. Jefferson Street, Orange, NJ 07050 on either Friday, May 3 from 3pm - 7pm or Saturday May 4, 2019 from 12pm - 4pm only. All packing materials must be removed from the Community Gallery at the time of drop off. Mailing artwork is not permitted—no shipments by third parties will be accepted. Framing must be of a professional standard, and be ready for hanging with attached wire. Any work that is not wired will incur a $15 hanging charge. All artwork must be picked up by the artist, at the gallery, from 10am-1pm on Sunday, June 9 or 4pm-7pm on Monday, June 10, 2019.
Prize:
$350 will be awarded to one selected Best in Show artist.
Sales:
All accepted artwork must remain on display for the entire duration of the exhibition and be priced for sale. The Community Gallery will collect 30% commission on all gallery sales. Proceeds from the exhibition to be used for further programming in the ValleyArts community. Proceeds from sales will be disbursed to artists within 30 days of the close of exhibition.
