The Española Valley Fiber Arts Center is sponsoring the New Mexico Fiber Crawl, a three-day fiber event featuring fiber artists and craftspeople, galleries and museums, farms, and shops. The event will be held May 17-19, 2019, at participating sites in northern New Mexico.

This call for artists is for an invitational and juried show organized in collaboration with, and held at, galleryFRITZ, 540 S. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM, https//www.galleryfritz.com. The exhibit will open on May 17 at 5:00 pm with a public reception. This opening will also be the kick-off party for the Fiber Crawl in Santa Fe. The exhibit will close on May 31.

THEME

The exhibit, titled Fiber as Metaphor, will showcase the best in fiber work from around the country and will reflect the theme of metaphor.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Fiber artists from anywhere in the United States are eligible to submit their work.
  • Work must be original fiber art created within the past three years.
  • Work must not have been previously exhibited in Santa Fe, NM.
  • Work must be for sale.
  • Work sold during the exhibit must remain at the gallery until the show closes, unless otherwise agreed to by galleryFRITZ.


ENTRY PROCEDURE

  • Submissions must be made through CaFÉ. (www.callforentry.org), to be received by MARCH 30, 2019DO NOT contact galleryFRITZ.
  • A non-refundable entry fee of $25.00 must accompany a submission through CaFÉ.
  • Up to three images or three pieces may be submitted. Only high resolutions images (minimum width 6”, 1800px, at 300 dpi), will be accepted. Photographs must be in a print-quality format as a catalog will accompany the exhibit. If a photograph is not print-quality, the work may not appear in the exhibit catalog.
  • Images in JPG, PNG or TIFF format must be labeled with the artist’s name, title of work, and year of creation.
  • Include a biography—200 words maximum.
  • Include an artist’s statement concerning how the work responds to the theme—200 words maximum. The statement may be excerpted for exhibit purposes.
  • List the sale price (galleryFRITZ’s commission is 50 percent of the sale price).
  • Grant permission to reproduce work for publicity (a form will be sent with the acceptance notification).


ACCEPTANCE

The Jury will announce which works have been accepted for the exhibit on April 15, 2019. At least 50 percent of the work in the exhibit will be from New Mexico artists.


SHIPPING & INSURANCE

GalleryFRITZ will insure the work under its fine arts policy during the exhibit. Artists are responsible for the cost of shipping to galleryFRITZ. Work is due at the gallery on or before May 10, 2019. Work may be hand-delivered Monday through Friday, 10am-5pm. Shipments should be sent to

Work will be made available for pickup on June 3, 2019. Artists shipping their work must make arrangements with galleryFRITZ for return shipping.


PACKING & PREPARATION

Work must be shipped in sturdy reusable crates, cartons, or containers and adequately protected against normal stresses encountered in transit. All crates, cartons, or containers must be clearly marked with the artist’s name and address. Work must be received in ready-to-exhibit condition. Multi-unit pieces must be submitted with detailed installation instructions. Wall pieces may not weigh more than 50 pounds. Neither galleryFRITZ nor EVFAC will be responsible for framing, mounting, or otherwise preparing work for the exhibition.
