 CALL TO ARTISTS

If you are a fine artist who creates tattoos or a tattoo artist who creates fine art, we invite you to submit your work for this PG- rated, juried exhibition at the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Palm Beach County, Florida.  

TATTOO:  The Renaissance of Body Art is an opportunity to showcase your best Tattoo Art and Fine Art at the Lighthouse ArtCenter.  We will display your work alongside primitive, tribal, Japanese, Americana, black and grey and contemporary art. Our visitors are consumers with a global eye for new trends in the art world as well as new directions in tattoos.  Your creations will enjoy exposure that can test their potential for trendsetting.

The exhibition runs from September 3, 2019, to November 2, 2019.  Thursday, September 19th will be the artist reception and awards ceremony.  Thursday, October 17th will be the “Nearly” Nude Runway Show.  (Tickets $50.)

The Lighthouse ArtCenter (LAC), located in Tequesta, Florida, is Palm Beach County’s and Martin County’s oldest and largest visual arts organization offering unique exhibitions and an extensive array of classes and workshops.  It is a two building campus that features a gallery and school of art.  With 5,000 square feet of contemporary gallery space and ten unique exhibitions annually, the ArtCenter serves over 20,000 visitors who attend these exhibitions and special events. The Lighthouse ArtCenter (LAC) is a 501c(3) charitable organization, founded in 1964 by Christopher Norton, the son of the founders of the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida.

PLEASE NOTE:  Artists will receive 60% on sales of their work during the exhibition and there will be a 40% commission to the Lighthouse ArtCenter.  All art must remain on display through the duration of the exhibition.

PROSPECTUS

You are invited to submit your work for consideration to participate in this uncommon and exciting exhibition in a noted cultural institution in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Tattoo Art refers to the original work of tattoo artists and their work on the human body, both past and present. (No tattooed genitals will be considered.)

There are two categories:

1) Original Artwork:  which can include original paintings, drawings, sketches, and illustrations

2) Original Tattoo Art: which can include flash and photographic images of the work on the human body

ELIGIBILITY:

CONSIDERATION BY DIGITAL IMAGES SUBMITTED THROUGH THE CaFE (Call for Entry) WEBSITE ONLY.  EACH ARTIST MAY SUBMIT UP TO THREE WORKS IN EACH OF THE TWO CATEGORIES ABOVE. THE APPLICATION FEE IS $35 PER CATEGORY.

GUIDELINES:

All paintings must be mounted or framed with a wire attached for hanging.  The wire should be installed so that it does not show above the work when it is hanging, and so that work hangs flat against the wall. 

All flash and photography must be mounted.

Prepare to submit the following information to CaFE (Call For Entry):

- Artist Name

- Title

- Statement about the piece, 150 words or less (LAC reserves the right to edit statements as

necessary for exhibition)

- Size:  width x height x depth in inches

- Materials:  25 words or less

- Techniques:  25 words or less

- Photo credit, if photo is not by the artist 

Digital image submission guidelines (failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the rejection of your submission):

- Submit one digital image for each work

- File format:  JPEG or JPG only

- File dimensions:  1200 pixels on the longest side.  Anything larger than 1200 pixels will be resized to fit the limitations.

- File size:  under 5MB

Special Note:  Lighthouse ArtCenter encourages you to send the best quality photos you can.  Remember the images you send are the only representations of your work the jurors will see when considering your entry.  These photos are also the ones used in advertising and printed materials.  Photos should be in sharp focus, showing all the edges, well lit, with correct color and no distortions.

APPLICATION FEE:  $35 for up to 3 entries per category

TICKETED “NEARLY’ NUDE RUNWAY SHOW:  THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2019, 5:30 - 7:30 P.M. (TICKETS $35 EACH)

EXHIBITION CLOSES: NOVEMBER 2, 2019, 2 p.m.

UNSOLD WORKS PACKED AND SHIPPED (OR PICKED UP) BY NOVEMBER 6, 2019

NOTE:  ARTIST’S CREDIT CARD NUMBER MUST BE KEPT ON FILE FOR RETURN SHIPPING AND INSURANCE ON UNSOLD PIECES.
