Long Description:  Paint Out Poulsbo – POP Art and Music Festival is a one day event in downtown Poulsbo. The theme this year is "Northwest Notes".  It is open to the public with 2D Art competition with artworks on display and for sale. Poulsbo Artist League and Kitsap Photography Guild will also have artwork available for display and for sale.  Musical entertainment and Peninsula Music and Arts Society scholarship winners’ performances will be scheduled throughout the day.  Awards and prizes given out during the Artists’ Reception, is open to the public 6:15-7:00 pm.

Artist Eligibility:  2D artist age 18 and above paying entry fee of $40; Non-fee Student division ages 12-18 yrs. using discount coupon STU1218; Non-fee Student division ages 5-11 yrs. using discount coupon STU511.

Application Requirements:  Artists can only apply to one category per CaFE™ profile. Profiles are free in CaFE™. The $40.00 entry fee covers 1-3 pieces. You may submit digital images of up to 3 pieces per entry. CaFE™ will charge $40 per entry. Students need to use coupon codes STU1218 or STU511 to correct pricing in CaFE™. For example, if you are a student it will result in total of $0 after entering the respective student code.

A one day Plein Air event will take place on June 1st in conjunction with POP.  This will be a separate registration in person at Sons of Norway in Poulsbo on the day of the event. Artists who register between 8:00-10:00 am will be eligible for prizes for finished entries submitted prior to 3 pm with prizes awarded during the 6:15-7:00 pm Artists’ Reception. Artists registered in the juried competition through CaFE™ may also personally register and submit a Plein Air entry. The artwork will be juried by a panel of local and regional professional artists during the qualification process prior to May 19, 2019. Artists will be notified by May 25th of accepted digital entries via CaFE™ by email. Original 2D artwork will be on display and final determination of awards will be made at the June 1st POP Festival.

Presentation and size requirements:  Accepted work must be ready for display upon arrival at Sons of Norway located at 18891 Front St NE, downtown Poulsbo. Finished artwork must not exceed 18”x24”. Framed pieces must fall within these specifications. Artwork must be wired for hanging. Saw tooth picture hangers are not accepted. Hanging wire may be visible only if it is part of the overall design of the piece.

Sales:  All accepted and hung work must be for sale. Peninsula Music and Arts Society will handle sales and retain a 20% commission to go toward future music and arts scholarships. Artists will receive payment within two weeks after the Festival of any work sold on June 1st.

Awards: Artists will be eligible for up to $3,200 in awards, including:

  • $500 Best of Show
  • $650 Professional 1st & 2nd Place
  • $500 Amateur 1st & 2nd Place
  • $250 Student 12-18 yrs. 1st & 2nd Place
  • $150 Student 5-11 yrs. 1st & 2nd Place
  • $650 Professional Plein Air 1st & 2nd Place
  • $500 Amateur Plein Air 1st & 2nd Place

Winners of the Plein Air and juried prizes will be announced at the Festival’s Artist Reception, open to the public, held in downtown Poulsbo June 1st 6:15-7 pm at the Sons of Norway Marine Room overlooking Liberty Bay.


Legal Agreement:
1. Entries must have been produced after June 2nd 2018.
2. Artists are not eligible to win cash awards in same category in consecutive years.
3. Members of Peninsula Music and Arts Society may enter, however are not eligible for cash awards.
4. Artists must be 18 years or older unless entering in student division; then 5-18 years old.
5. All entries must be for sale.
6. All sales will be processed through PMAS. 20% commission will be collected on total sales.
7. All entries must be original and entirely the work of the artist.
8. No copies, derivatives or reproductions; work cannot be based on copyrighted or previously published materials.
9. Artists may not substitute or alter the work, title, or price after it has been accepted.

10. Qualification of entry is chosen by the Jurors from the digital submissions.
11. Digital images of selected work will be retained by Peninsula Music and Arts Society. PMAS assumes permission to reproduce accepted artwork for promotional uses.
12. Awards are chosen by the Judges on June 1st prior to opening exhibition to the public.
13. Artwork not sold during Festival MUST be picked up at the Sons of Norway on June 1st by 7:30 pm. Storage of unsold items for future pick up is not available. Therefore, if you cannot pick up your work, you will need to make arrangements for someone else to do so.
14. Entry will be valid once payment is received by Peninsula Music and Arts Society.
15. Final selections of all entries will be at the juror’s discretion. PMAS reserves the right to refuse any piece of unacceptable quality or any piece that does not match the image submitted, or does not meet the framing/finishing criteria.
16. We encourage artists to carry their own insurance. Please be advised that every reasonable precaution will be taken during the receiving, installation, exhibition and return of your artwork. PMAS and its volunteers do not assume responsibility for loss or damage that may be incurred during this process. All work needs to be of a substantial enough nature to withstand these procedures.
