A DIFFERENT VISION 2019
"A Hands on Experience"
A Different Vision is a unique concept in the visual arts coming to Plymouth Center for the Arts on June 20, 2019. This is the fourth time the Center has presented this very socially important and popular exhibition that breaks traditional barriers by actively encouraging visitors to experience and explore the art on display through touch and other senses. The experience challenges the notion that sight is essential for creating and enjoying exceptional art, while emphasizing touch as a fundamental part of our daily lives and overall sensual experience.

A Different Vision is specifically designed for visually impaired visitors to the Center, but available to all, A Different Vision will exhibit sculptures, fabric art, pottery and any other 3D art form; all available to be touched and considered.

The Plymouth Center for the Arts is in a unique position and a unique location to make history and art meld into one very memorable experience, for all who visit. Our Galleries are located just steps away from Plymouth Rock and Mayflower II, on North Street that connects the beautiful Plymouth Waterfront and Harbor with Plymouth’s Main Street.

Eligibility: All sighted and non-sighted artists. This is an open juried exhibition that will demonstrate how art can be made accessible to blind and partially sighted individuals. There is no limit to the number of entries per artist.

Entries may include sculptures, assemblages, pottery, fiber art, reliefs, kinetic art, wall hangings, woodworks, textured canvas, interactive art and other three dimensional mediums. Artwork must be both visual appealing and engaging for the blind with no sharp edges.

Awards:  There will be five awards:  First Place - $150, second place - $100
