Current art students from leading Southern California art programs are invited to mine the cultural landscape of Los Angeles for inspiration leading to the submission of dynamic new work to be showcased in PVAC’s Fourth Annual Alpay Scholarship University Student Juried Exhibition, Now Trending

Juror:  Shana Nys Dambrot, LA Weekly Arts Editor

Shana Nys Dambrot is an art critic, curator, and author based in Downtown LA. She is the Arts Editor for the LA Weekly, and a contributor to Flaunt, Art and Cake, Artillery, Palm Springs Life. 

She studied Art History at Vassar College, writes essays for books and catalogs, curates and juries a few exhibitions each year, is a dedicated Instagram photographer and author of experimental short fiction, and speaks at galleries, schools, and cultural institutions nationally. She is a member of ArtTable and the LA Press Club and sits on the Boards of Art Share-LA and the Venice Institute of Contemporary Art, and the Advisory Council of Building Bridges Art Exchange.

Open to all current Southern California university art students:

·      All media considered – new media encouraged

·      No submission fee

·      Up to three (3) submissions; please upload only one image for 2-Dimensional   works or video; up to three images allowed for each 3-D work.

·      Submission goals “the unexpected”

·      Winning submission awarded $5000 scholarship

·      Submission deadline, extended to April 30, 2019

·      Exhibition dates, June 8 – July 7, 2019

Since 1998, The Beverly G. Alpay Memorial Education Fund has provided almost $200,000 in funds to support the artistic journey of talented artists from high school students to working professionals. Alpay Memorial Education Funds support Now Trending University Student Juried Exhibition.
