The Morean Center for Clay in St. Petersburg, Florida invites ceramics artists to submit proposals for solo exhibitions to open between August 2019 and July 2020 in our Center Gallery. Open to all artists over the age of 18. We define ceramic artist very openly.

The Center Gallery is a white cube measuring 14’ 6” x 15’ 9” in the middle of a working art center and studio. Work that is experimental and that pushes the boundaries of contemporary ceramics will be preferred but all ceramic artists are encouraged to apply. Proposals from under represented and emerging artists will also be given preference.

Each accepted artist will be contacted and a month will be chosen for their solo exhibition. The artist is responsible for getting their work to and from the gallery. The Center Gallery will be responsible installation and deinstallation. Each accepted exhibition will have an opening on the Second Saturday of the month of their exhibition. The exhibition will then stay up for 3 weeks. If the artist would like, there will be an opportunity for a short artist talk during the opening. This can be done in person or over skype.

A small amount of money is available to help artists realize their proposals. This will be discussed on an individual basis with accepted artists and financial support isn’t guaranteed by acceptance. If you would like to receive a small amount of money to help realize your proposal please include a budget in your proposal document.
