The Entry Fee of $38.00 covers 1 to 3 entries.

The exhibit runs  from Tuesday, August 27, 2019 through Saturday, September 28, 2019. The reception and awards presentation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5 to 8pm.

Eligibility
Please read carefully. Submissions not meeting eligibility requirements will not be considered.

  • Open to any living photographer residing in Colorado. 
  • Submissions must be original work of the submitting photographer. Work created in an instructional setting, including, but not limited to workshops and art classes are not considered original photography.
  • Work should be current within the last three (3) years and will not have appeared in another juried show in Littleton within the last two (2) years.
  • All accepted entries must be for sale and remain on display for the entire show.
  • Wall-hanging photography is limited in size to a maximum of 45 inches on the longest side (i.e. it may not be larger than 45" x 45". This measurement will include the frame.  
  • Wall-hanging photography must weigh less than twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • The edges of unframed wall-hanging photography must be finished. No staples or nails may be visible from the front or on the edges. 
  • If images are printed on canvas and left unframed image must wrap around the edge.

Deadline

Entries must be entered into CaFÉ (callforentry.org) by 11:59pm Mountain Time, Monday, July 8, 2019. 

Presentation Guidelines
  • Photography must be hand delivered to the Depot Art Gallery only at the specified date and time: Sunday, August 25, 2019, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. No shipments accepted. 
  • Photography must be delivered with two (2) photography title tags attached. One tag is to be adhered to the back of the work. Attach the second tag temporarily to the front of the work. A template for these tags will be emailed to you prior to the delivery day.
  • Only professionally presented photography will be accepted.
  • Wall-hung items must be appropriately framed and/or edges adequately finished, as previously stated.
  • Pictures must use sturdy wire as the hanging medium. No saw-tooth hangers or metal screw eyes accepted. 
  • No pictures may be hung using cleats. If the picture is designed for cleats, it should be adapted, temporarily, so that it can hang by wires. 
  • Frames must be free of defects.
  • The Littleton Fine Arts Guild reserves the right to reject any work not matching submission requirements, not properly presented for exhibit, or deemed inappropriate for the Depot Art Gallery setting or its clientele.

Entry Requirements

  • Please read the prospectus thoroughly; Submissions not meeting eligibility requirements will not be considered.
  • Entry fee is $38 and includes up to three images. 
  • Entry fee is non-refundable. 
  • If paying by check, make the check payable to: Littleton Fine Arts Guild with Aperture fee in the Memo line. Mail to:  Carl Paulson, C/O Depot Art Gallery, 2069 West Powers Ave., Littleton, CO 80120.  Please note: Your images will NOT be available to jury until we receive your check. Envelopes must be postmarked earlier than June 28, 2019. If entering after that date you MUST pay with a credit card.
  • Please be sure that the email address you give CaFÉ is the email where you want to receive your notices. 
  • Each photographer may submit up to three (3) entries.
  • Your images, as submitted to CaFÉ,  must be cropped to exclude framing and background, and must represent the work exactly.
  • All images must be entered through CaFÉ (callforentry.org).
  • A minimum of three (3) images are required by the CaFÉ system. If you are submitting fewer than three (3) images, you must fill in the remaining entries with the same image file that you name “Duplicate Entry” or with blank JPGs.
  • Notification of invited and not-invited entries will be made via email by Friday, July 26, 2019.

  • File format: JPEG only
  • File dimensions: 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side. 
  • File resolution: 72 ppi/dpi  (standard web resolution)
  • File size:  Under 5 MB

Juror: Mark Osler. 

Mark is a picture editor, photojournalist, and photography educator. He has worked at 9 newspapers over the past 29 years and now works independently, based in Denver. In 2002, Mark lead the Rocky Mountain News' photographic reportage of the wildfires that ravaged Colorado. That comprehensive coverage earned him and his RMN photo staff colleagues the 2003 Pulitzer prize for breaking news photography. Mark’s work – as both a photographer and picture editor – has also earned him over 30 awards from the Associated Press, National Press Photographer’s Association, International Pictures of the Year, Society of Newspaper Design and World Press Photo. Mark is a native New Yorker and has lived in Colorado since 2001. He is the proud father of a 17-year-old daughter and a 20-year-old son.  

Awards
Littleton Fine Arts Guild will offer over $1000.00 in awards to photographers selected by our juror. All Colorado Aperture 2019 registrants are also eligible to enter a drawing for sponsor cash or goods/services during the reception on Friday, September 6, 2019, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Must be present at the reception to participate in the drawing.

Sales
The Littleton Fine Arts Guild will manage all sales and retain a commission of 30% on all sales. Sold pieces must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show.

Liability

All photography is handled with reasonable care. Photographers are encouraged to obtain insurance covering losses or damage that may occur during the transport or display of their work. Littleton Fine Arts Guild, Inc., the Depot Art Gallery, and the City of Littleton, CO are not responsible for and will not reimburse for damage to, theft of, or loss of any photography or framing. 

Agreement

  • By submission of an entry, the entering photographer:
  • Agrees to all conditions and rules set forth herein.
  • Agrees that the Littleton Fine Arts Guild will manage all sales and retain a commission of 30% on all sales.
  • Waives any claim for loss or damage against the Littleton Fine Arts Guild, Inc., the Depot Art Gallery, and the City of Littleton, CO.
  • Agrees that the Littleton Fine Arts Guild, Inc. and Depot Art Gallery have the right to make final decisions as to marketing, display, sale, and other conditions of and for Colorado Aperture 2019 at the Depot. 
  • Authorizes the Littleton Fine Arts Guild, Inc. and Depot Art Gallery to use any image submitted into the Colorado Aperture 2019 at the Depot for purposes of advertising or promotion.
  • Agrees to deliver accepted work in person (or by a designated representative) at the Depot Art Gallery, Sunday, August 25, 2019 between 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, 
  • Agrees to pick up unsold work in person (or a designated representative) on Sunday, September 29, 2019, between 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Please contact Nancy Myer at nemyer1115@aol.com or 303-368-1472 with any unforeseen problems. 
  • Agrees that the Littleton Fine Arts Guild, Inc., the Depot Art Gallery, and the City of Littleton have no obligation to store photography left by the photographer more than four (4) days after the close of the show. Please plan in advance for the pick up of your work as we are unable to deliver photography back to photographers.
  • Agrees that photography left more than four (4) days days after the close of the show becomes the property of the Littleton Fine Arts Guild.

Unframed Photography (bin work)

  • Up to four (4) pieces of two-dimensional unframed photography will be accepted from every registrant who submits entries to the Colorado Aperture 2019 Show at the Depot whether or not entries were juried into the show.
  • Unframed photography will not be juried.
  • Unframed photography inventory sheet must be completed and accompany unframed photography when delivered to the Depot Gallery. A template for the inventory sheet will be emailed to you prior to the delivery day.
  • Unframed photography shall be received neatly enclosed in acetate and labeled on the back with the photographer’s name, email, title, and price corresponding to the unframed photography.
  • Only flat unframed photography is accepted.
  • No more than one copy of any image in the print racks.
  • Photography in print racks left more than four (4) days after the close of the show becomes the property of the Littleton Fine Arts Guild.
  • The Littleton Fine Arts Guild will manage all sales and retain a commission of 30% on all sales.

The Littleton Fine Arts Guild (LFAG) is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization

The Littleton Fine Arts Guild was founded in 1962 by 10 women interested in painting.  Today, LFAG boast more than 60 members comprised of skilled artists, photographers and artisans.

Our members work in a broad selection of media: oil, acrylic, mixed media, watercolor, pastel, etchings, jewelry, silk painting, ceramics, glass, fiber, photography, sculpture, and wood.

Throughout the year, members display their works in over a dozen juried and non-juried exhibits.  Non-members throughout Colorado are invited to apply for entry to our All Colorado Show and the Colorado Aperture Show.

The historic Depot Art Gallery is a restored 1885 Santa Fe train station adapted to use as a gallery, which opened in 1978.  It was enhanced by the addition of a renovated 1890's caboose. It is a unique marriage of community spirit and the arts.

The Depot Art Gallery is under the administration of the Museum and the City of Littleton and is operated by the Littleton Fine Arts Guild.  


Important Dates for Colorado Aperture 2019 at the Depot
Monday, July 8: Deadline for all entries to be completed via CaFÉ (callforentry.org)
Friday, July 26: Jury Notifications sent by email.
Sunday, August 25: Delivery of accepted photography and unframed photography to the Depot Art Gallery, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Tuesday, August 27: Exhibit opens at 10:00 am.
Friday, September 6: Reception 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Awards presentation 6:30 pm.
Saturday, September 28: Exhibit closes at 5:00 pm.
Sunday, September 29: Photographers pick up unsold work, between 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. If you cannot be available to pick up your work you must make arrangements for someone to do so for you. The gallery does not have storage space. Photography may not be left at the Depot Art Gallery.
