The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is currently accepting submissions for our upcoming exhibition, Reclaimed!, sponsored by Waste Management and The City of Fayetteville's Environmental Services Department. 

This exhibition will be held at the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County at 301 Hay Street in downtown Fayetteville, NC from June 28 - August 17, 2019.

ENTRY:  Only digital entries will be accepted and should be submitted to CaFE (www.callforentry.org) by May 27, 2019.  This is a juried exhibition and works and awards will be selected by an experienced juror.  The exhibited works should have been completed within the last 3 years and should have never been shown or previously entered into ANY Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County exhibition.  Up to 3 works may be entered per artist and artist should include a general artist’s statement (150 words or less) with submission.

ENTRY FEE:  $25 for up to three works.

CATEGORIES/MEDIUMS: All 2D and 3D mediums.  Artwork must be original artwork from artists working with repurposed materials and found objects, incorporating at least 70 percent of repurposed, recyclable, or reused materials.  Work must be able to fit within the entryway of our building, which is would fit a work no larger than 82” x 32”.

ELIBIGILITY:  Open to any artist at least 18 years or age living in the United States.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTED/NOT ACCEPTED WORKS:  Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than June 7, 2019 through www.callforentry.org

SPECIFICATIONS & PREPARING OF WORK:  Submissions must be made digitally through www.callforentry.org.  Each submitted work must be accompanied with the title of the work, medium, size and sales price.  If a work is not for sale, please provide insurance value and note that the work is “NFS” (Not For Sale). The Arts Council utilizes a Walker hanging system for 2-D work and exhibition works should be appropriately framed to use this system.  No plastic box frames, uni-frames or sawtooth hangers. 

SALES ARE ENCOURAGED: The Arts Council will retain 30% commission from the sales price listed on your entry form. Items not for sale must be marked NFS (Not For Sale); however, an insurance value will be required on the entry form. 

INSURANCE: All work is insured while at the Arts Council.  Each artist is to determine insurance value, and this value must be within range of previously sold work.

SHIPPING OF WORKS:  All works must be received by Thursday, June 20, 2019.  Each work must be accompanied with the work’s title, medium, size and sales price.  SHIPPED WORKS should be packed in reusable containers.  DO NOT use Styrofoam peanuts when packing artwork.  Shipping costs are the responsibility of the artist.  Artwork should be shipped prepaid via UPS, USPS, DHL or Fed Ex, and must be accompanied with a prepaid return-shipping label. COD deliveries will not be accepted.

JUROR:  Bryant Holsenbeck, an environmental artist in Durham, NC, who has worked and is known internationally, makes art out of stuff people usually throw away.  After her realization that there is no “away,” that there is only out of sight, she resolved to create beauty out of trash.  She has been making art out of recycled materials ever since, in an attempt to draw people’s attention to how much we throw away and to encourage individuals and communities to be better stewards of the environment.  See:  www.bryantholsebeck.com.  .

AWARDS:  $1,000 in total awards.
