The Arts Commission will host its 14th HOT GLASS Gallery Exhibition and Gala Auction on November 8, 2019 in downtown Toledo, Ohio. As the birthplace of the studio glass movement, we honor Toledo’s heritage as the Glass City with an exhibition open to all glassworking techniques (hot, warm, cold, flame/lampworked, etc.).
We are pleased to invite you to submit works for representation in The Arts Commission’s fundraiser, HOT GLASS. In keeping with The Arts Commission’s mission to support artists, those participating may choose to consign their work for sale, or make a full donation of the proceeds from the sale to The Arts Commission.
Since its inception in the 1990’s, HOT GLASS has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to individual glass artists through the sale of works at this event. Your participation will also support the valuable programs and services that The Arts Commission provides in our community. You can learn more about our programs at www.theartscommission.org.
HOTGLASS 2019 will be exhibited in a downtown pop-up gallery at 300 Madison Avenue. We will present an opening reception on October 3rd, and the concluding Gala Evening will be November 8.
Artists who work in all glass techniques (hot, warm, cold, flame/lampworked, etc.) are encouraged to submit up to 3 pieces for consideration. The Acquisition Committee is interested in showcasing a survey of work that covers a wide range of artistic practices and includes emerging, mid-career and established artists. Please note that due to the temporary exhibition space, we are not able to include works that require a wall to hang. This is a juried exhibition.
The deadline for submissions is Sunday, June 23, 2019. We will notify artists no later than July 30. Selected artists will be provided with an exhibition agreement and shipping instructions at that time. Art works that are not purchased at the event will be returned to the artist.
