PROSPECTUS

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION 
The 2019 Fechin Juried Members Small Works Show is a juried show and sale of original two-dimension plein air artworks presented by the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico (PAPNM) and hosted by Taos Art Museum at Fechin House in Taos, New Mexico, Tuesday July 2 - Saturday August 3,2019. This call is only open to current paid PAPNM members. To join PAPNM, visit www.papnm.org, and click “Join Us” in the top menu. The public and collectors are invited to attend the opening reception and view the exhibition at Taos Art Museum.

PAPNM is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization of artists dedicated to preserving and promoting painting "en plein air" - in the open air or outdoors. Taos Art Museum is one of New Mexico’s’ most prestigious and respected museums. Its collection includes approximately 300 drawings, paintings, and prints by the Taos Society of Artists. The museum is located in the heart of Taos in the former house of Russian artist Nicolai Fechin who avidly painted and drew in Plein Air and from life. It opened as the Taos Art Museum at Fechin House in 1994. Its primary aims are to improve awareness of and to nurture local artistic development.

ELIGIBILITY • This call is open to all paid members of Plein Air Painters of New Mexico working in two-dimensional media, limited to oil media (traditional and water-mixable), wet media (acrylic, watercolor, and gouache), and dry media (pastel). Works produced on any substrate which has been pre-printed is strictly forbidden. 

• PAPNM Membership for 2019 must be current with dues paid in full before submitting to the call for entry for the exhibition. To join, visit www.papnm.org, and click “Join Us” in the top menu. Follow the instructions for member application or renewal and payment
. • Only original plein air artworks are eligible for entry. All work must be at least 80% completed en plein air.
• All entries must be submitted through CallForEntry (CaFÉ) at www.CallForEntry.org and cannot be altered once submitted. All entry fees must be paid by Friday June 7 and are non-refundable. 5/8/2019 10:31:03 PM

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND FEES
PAPNM Members may submit up to two images through CaFÉ for jury selection, however only one artwork may be selected for exhibition. Entry fee is $45
. • All artwork must be original (completely conceived and executed by the artist) and have been produced within the last two years (2018 and 2019). Works must not violate copyright laws. The artist retains copyright to his/her image(s). However, by submitting to this show, the artist agrees to PAPNM’s and Fechin’s use of the images for publicity (including future promotion) and archival purposes.
• Work done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible for entry.
• Works shown in any previous PAPNM juried member exhibition are not eligible for entry. Works previously showcased in PAPNM on-line contests are eligible for entry.
* Each artwork entered must be within size specifications. The minimum size per piece is 48 square inches unframed (6”x 8”). Maximum size per piece is 80 square inches unframed (8”x10”). Works larger will be withdrawn from jury consideration and shall not be replaced with another entry.
• Artwork must be available for sale in the gallery with a minimum retail price of $300. Work priced lower than $300 will be withdrawn from jury consideration and shall not be replaced with another entry.
• Artists should check their CaFÉ accounts before June 15th to verify application status. Upon completion of jury selection, artists will receive notification of acceptance or decline by email.

JUDGE OF AWARDS
Internationally acclaimed artist, Louis Escobedo, is the 2019 Judge of Awards and Workshop Instructor. He is a two-time gold medal award winner at the Oil Painters of America National Show and was a judge for OPA in 2017and for LPAPA Plein Air show in 2015. Louisescobedo.com

JURORS OF SELECTION Jurors of selection will be provided Taos Art Museum. Fifty works will be selected for exhibition.

​EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS: PLEASE READ THESE EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW THEM EXACTLY. ANY ARTIST VIOLATING THESE REQUIREMENTS MAY BE DISQUALIFIED AND ANY AWARD WILL BE FORFEITED.
• After the application closing June 7, 2019, no changes for submissions will be allowed, including the artist’s name, artwork title, size, price, or artwork image.
• Exhibiting artists must bring or include two copies of a one-page biography with artwork delivery.
• Delivered works must have a professional presentation, be suitably framed, and be ready to hang with Drings and wire. No saw-tooth hangers will be accepted. Gallery-wrapped canvases with finished edges are appropriate for oil or acrylic paintings and will be accepted for exhibition.
• The image submitted through CaFÉ and approved by the Entry Jurors must exactly match the respective delivered artwork. Any artist delivering a substitute for the original artwork approved by the Jurors will be disqualified from exhibiting any paintings in the current national exhibition and the following two national exhibitions.
• Any artist withdrawing a painting after acceptance into the exhibition will be disqualified from exhibiting any paintings in the current national exhibition and the following two national exhibitions.
• Any artist who sells an exhibited artwork without going through Taos Art Museum will be disqualified from exhibiting any paintings in the current national exhibition and the following two national exhibitions.

SHIPPING AND DELIVERY OF ARTWORKS
Complete shipping and delivery information will be included with notification to accepted artists.

TERMS OF ARTWORK SALE
• All artwork must be available for hanging and sale at Taos Art Museum for the entire duration of the show.
• Taos Art Museum will handle all gallery sales and collect all associated payments from customers, including all applicable New Mexico gross receipts taxes (NMGRT). Customers/collectors will pay all packing and shipping charges, insurance costs, and other handling expenses incurred and set by Taos Art Museum for the sale, shipping, and delivery of artwork purchased by them.
• Taos Art Museum will sell single artworks at full retail price. For a sale of two or more artworks to a single buyer, Taos Art Museum may offer a 10% discount to the buyer.
• Artwork sold during the exhibition may be taken by the buyer upon sale, but the buyer will be encouraged to leave the artwork though the opening weekend of the show.
• PAPNM will send payment to the artist for artwork sold at 50% of the sale price within 30 days of the close of the exhibition. 5/8/2019 10:31:03 PM

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES
Publication sponsors will offer PAPNM members special group advertising rates to promote PAPNM and the national exhibition. Participation is encouraged and recommended for this prestigious event.

ONLINE SHOWCASE
Images of paintings exhibited at Taos Art Museum at Fechin House will be showcased on PAPNM’s website at www.papnm.org. Artworks will be ordered alphabetically. Award winners will be listed. The showcase will point visitors to Taos Art Museum for inquiry and purchase. Taos Art Museum will add the PAPNM Online Showcase link as well as images of exhibited works on their website at www.taosartmuseum.org for the duration of the show.

TAOS PLEIN AIR: HISTORIC STUDIOS EVENT AND PAINTOUT

AGREEMENT OF ENTRY AND LIABILITY
PAPNM has the right to refuse or disqualify any work that fails to meet eligibility, entry, and exhibition requirements. All reasonable care will be taken with artwork. However, Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, its members, and its volunteers are not responsible for any loss or damage of any artworks in the exhibition. Taos Art Museum will be responsible for the safekeeping and insurance coverage of all artworks in the exhibition while on gallery premises. Artists are responsible for insuring their work during transit. An artist’s entry and payment constitute acceptance of all conditions and terms in this prospectus.
