Art of Fandom Year 2 Call for Art - July 2019

Art of Fandom returns bigger and better than last year! Imurj is celebrating the Art of Fandom for the month of July, 2019. Fan art, cosplay, fan films and projects, prints, paintings, digital works, the entire realm of nerd-dom is welcome in this national, juried exhibit! Selected artists will showcase their work in Imurj’s Main Gallery, displaying their work in a traditional gallery setting intended to elevate the craft of creating fan art for the things we’re crazy about. Show Raleigh what the passion of fandom can fuel!

Since Imurj’s gallery space is about 70 ft. wide, we expect more work than we can accommodate. As such, in addition to Imurj’s space, overflow works may be eligible to displayed at A Place at The Table as a sister exhibition.

For print artists, Imurj will carry a selection of works as prints in our shop. Details below.**

Who can Apply: Artists of all mediums, United States only

2D artists:

[Must be a resident of the United States]

Limit two (2) works per applicant. All mediums accepted, maximum size per piece is 50 inches in either dimension. All 2D works MUST be wired upon dropoff/delivery to hang from Imurj’s gallery cable system. Unwired works will not be accepted for display and will be shipped back to the owner at the owner’s cost, or asked to be picked up by the artist when possible. Prints applicable, so long as they are framed and wired. Please apply with “2 dimensional art” as your medium.

3D artists (costume design, sculpture, etc.):

[Must be a resident of the United States]

Limit two (2) works per applicant.  All mediums accepted, maximum size per piece is 50 inches in any direction. Maximum weight for works that display on a pedestal or table is 90 lbs. Maximum weight for works that hang from the ceiling is 60 lbs. Costumes must provide their own mannequin, be framed and wired, or any other display item needed to show costume/apparel. Apply as “3 dimensional art” as your medium.

Video and Digital artists:

To submit video/digital-only works (to be added to a slideshow), apply with “Digital art” as your medium. Imurj will facilitate monitors and/or headphones as needed.

Print artists:

All prints must be wrapped for individual display and sale, such as a poly bag or well-presented shrink wrap.. Imurj is able to carry up to ten copies of both works in the shop for a total of 20 due to limited storage space in our shop.

If you are applying only for selling your prints in the shop, apply with “Merchandise” as your medium.

If you’d like to submit prints for the gallery show and not the shop, please apply as a “2 dimensional art” as your medium.

If you’d like your work to be in the gallery and the shop, apply with “2 dimensional art” as your medium and denote your desire to sell prints in your statement. If the print works differ from the two applied in the gallery show, please send an email to exhibit@imurj.com to receive instructions to apply for a free, second application for the shop.
