Call for Artists          32nd Annual National Juried Exhibition

“America the beautiful- An Artist’s Oasis”          Entry Deadline: July 13, 2019

The South Cobb Arts Alliance (SCAA) is pleased to announce our 32nd Annual National Juried Exhibition entitled “America the Beautiful, An Artist’s Oasis.” The exhibition will be at a new location at the Pat Vaughn Cultural Arts Center, 4181 Atlanta Street, Powder Springs, GA 30127, and will be open to the public from August 5 to 24, 2019.

America the beautiful can mean many things to artists: an oasis of landscapes from sea to shining sea, of streetscapes, of quaint villages and historic towns, to the urban and suburban views from the pavement to the skies.  And, of course, America the beautiful can be portrayed through photographs, drawings, sculpture, mixed media art, weaving, and the expressions of its people and its natural wonders.  Its oasis is where and when the artist sees the beautiful whether up close and personal or from a mountaintop.

JUROR & JUDGE:

We are honored to have Ann Cockerill as our 2019 Juror and Judge as she has the aptitude to see details and beauty in all artwork presentations. Ann Cockerill received a degree in art at LaGrange College and studied under many artists. She was commissioned by the State of Georgia to paint life size portraits of James Oglethorpe, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Marquis de LaFayette for the newly remodeled “Old Capitol” in Milledgeville. Her painting of Kennesaw Mountain was included in the “Spirit of America Exhibition from Winslow Homer to Andrew Wyeth,” and toured throughout the nation’s museums.

She has won numerous awards including Best of Show Spirit de France Arts Festival; First Place North Wildwood Beach NJ Art Exhibition; and the Winsor Newton First Place Painting Award of the International Art Show of New Jersey. Her painting was chosen for the Atlanta Dogwood Festivals Fine Art Poster Competition.

Ann and her husband Bill, own the Red Cockerill Gallery where they exhibit their work. Ann also teaches art and creates unique custom frames for her customers at the gallery. She was voted Best Artist of Cobb County in 2019 by the readers of Marietta Daily Journal.  More about our judge and her work at www.RedCockerillGallery.com.
