The Allegany Arts Council is pleased to announce a Call for Entry for The Wills Creek Exhibition of Fine Art, to be held at the Saville and Schwab Galleries in downtown Cumberland, Maryland in September 2019. This event is a juried competition with $4000 in cash prizes. The juror is Jack Rasmussen, Director and Curator of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center, Washington, DC and Chair of the Maryland State Arts Council.

The Wills Creek Exhibition of Fine Art is a national, juried exhibition of contemporary art celebrating its 20th year in representing the finest in painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, fiber art and more. 

Artists of all mediums and genres are encouraged to apply. Work should be completed in the last three years and not previously shown in the Saville Gallery. Work must not exceed 48” in any direction including the frame.

A Public Opening will be held in the Allegany Arts Council's Saville Gallery, Cumberland, MD on Saturday, September 21, from 6-8 pm. Awards will be presented by the juror at 7 pm.

How to Apply:
Entries are accepted through www.callforentry.org.  The entry fee is $30.00 (for the first two entries). Additional entries are available for $15.00 each.  An artist may submit up to a total of six (6) entries. 

If an artist chooses to enter only one piece for consideration, please note the piece must be submitted twice in the current call format. To do so, simply name the second entry "COPY_LAST NAME".  Should you have questions about entry, please contact the Allegany Arts Council at 301.777.2787.

Artists who submit "detail" images will be charged a media fee of $15.00 per additional image. It is not necessary to include detail images even if prompted. Artists may be contacted separately should additional images be required. 

Specifications for Accepted Work:
Entries must be original works of art that have been completed within the last three (3) years, and have not been previously exhibited in the Saville Gallery. All artwork should be listed for sale, and no work previously sold may be borrowed for entry in the exhibition. Work must not exceed 48”x48”x48”. 
All two dimensional work must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. No substitution, exchange, modification, or withdrawal of works is permitted after they are accepted for the exhibition.

Shipping/Insurance/Return:
Accepted artists will be responsible for shipping their artwork and for insurance during transport. The Allegany Arts Council is not responsible for damage to artwork during transport to and from our galleries.​​ Work must be shipped prepaid to the Saville Gallery in STURDY, REUSABLE PACKING. Please include instructions for unpacking or assembly if needed. Complete shipping instructions will be mailed with acceptance notices. Work may also be delivered to the Allegany Arts Council in person at 9 N. Centre St., Cumberland, MD 21502. Artists wishing to have their work returned MUST INCLUDE A PREPAID SHIPPING LABEL via UPS or FedEx pick-up service with your shipment. The Allegany Arts Council will insure all accepted work for 65% of its sale price while the work is on the its premises. 

Sales/Commissions:
The Allegany Arts Council will offer its services in promoting sales and will retain a 35% commission on all sales. Works may not be removed during the exhibition. All sales handled by representatives of the Allegany Arts Council.
