The Tubac Center of the Arts presents Shock of the New West, an exhibition that seeks to blend current trends in contemporary art and western themes.  Artists are encouraged to imagine traditional western themes in creative ways and to enter work which is innovative in concept and approach, whether representational or abstract.  Work must have been completed within the last 36 months.  Work that has been previously displayed at TCA is not eligible.  All work must be the original creation of the artist.

Pick Up of Unsold Art and Return Shipping – All art must be picked up on Monday, February 17, 2019. Shipped art will be returned the following week. Please note the shipping instructions below.

Entries must be original, entirely the work of the artist, executed within the last 48 months, and cannot have been previously shown at TCA. Giclee reproductions are not permitted. Art may not be removed from the exhibit prior to the close of the exhibition on Sunday, February 16, 2020.

Artists agree to release the use of images of accepted works to TCA only as a permanent record of the exhibition and only for promotional use related to the exhibition and the art center.

Once accepted, artists may submit a high-resolution image for consideration for use in print promotions including the exhibit postcard. Please email a jpeg file at least 300 dpi to  Please include in the subject line of your email, "Shock of the New West Print".  Please include your last name and first initial along with the title in the name of the file. example: SmithJ_Painting.jpg.


All artwork must arrive in a condition ready to professionally display or hang.  If framed, work must be suitably matted, (white, black or neutral colors preferred), simply framed and firmly wired. No sawtooth hangers.  TCA reserves the right to disqualify any selected entry upon arrival that does not meet the above requirements or is deemed unsuitable for display.

Artists are responsible for shipping to and from TCA.  Unsold work will be shipped back to the artist after the close of the exhibition.  Artists must provide a PREPAID barcoded shipping label for the return of their artwork.


All work must be for sale. TCA will retain a 40% commission, Price work accordingly. Presentation of your artwork will include the price you set here, so please consider the price you would like.


Jurying will be done on the basis of digital images in jpg format.  Up to 4 works may be entered for consideration.  Nonrefundable entry fee is $33 for the first image, $3 each additional image.  Payments are made at the end of the CaFE™ entry process either via credit card online or a check mailed to the art center.

Artist Cody DeLong of Jerome, Arizona, will jury this exhibition. Recently featured in Southwest Art magazine, Mr. DeLong’s oil paintings will be featured in a solo exhibition concurrently with this exhibition.
