Eligibility and Entries
Open to all artists 18 years and older. All work must be for sale. Work must be original and executed in the past two years. A maximum of 4 works may be submitted. Work must not have been exhibited in previous Arts Council of Wayne County Juried Art Exhibitions. Entries will be judged digitally through callforentries.com. Artists are responsible for the transport or shipping of selected entries to the ACWC.

Prizes
Prize winners will not be announced until the opening reception in the Main Gallery of the Arts Council of Wayne County on October 4th at 6pm. The judge will give a brief presentation on each piece before awarding prizes. The Juror will award the cash prizes based solely on merit regardless of media. Honorable mentions will be awarded at the juror’s discretion.

Mediums/Condition
Acceptable mediums include paintings, graphics, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, mixed media and photography. No slides. All work must be framed, wired, and ready for hanging or otherwise suitably prepared for exhibition or it will not be accepted. Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable. No work may exceed 4 feet in any direction.
Sculptures must be portable by not more than two persons and weigh less than 100 lbs.
The ACWC reserves the right to reject any entry that requires special installation or care.

Sales
Work must be for sale. Sales are encouraged. The ACWC will retain 35% commission on sales. It is the artist’s responsibility to account for said commission in sale price.
Entry fee is $40 (non-refundable) for up to 4 works. The Arts Council will exercise the best possible care in the handling of all works and will not be held responsible for any damage or loss due to any cause.

(No physical entries will be accepted. Once digital submissions have been selected, artists are responsible for shipping or dropping off work at the ACWC before October 1 st .)

September 11: Call closes at 11:59 pm
September 12-15: Entries are judged
September 16: Artists notified via email of acceptance or rejection by 5:00pm
September 16- September 31: Drop off or delivery of work to ACWC
October 4: OPENING RECEPTION: 6pm - 8pm
Oct 4-Nov 15: GALLERY EXHIBIT OF SELECTED WORKS
Nov 16-20: All unsold works from GALLERY EXHIBIT to be picked up. All work not picked up within
30 days of the pickup date becomes the property of the Arts Council of Wayne County. (Shipped works will be shipped back in original packaging.)

Shipped Entries
Accepted works should arrive at the Arts Council of Wayne County between September 16, 2019, and October 1st, 2019. The artist will be responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements to and from the Arts Council of Wayne County. Shipped entries must be sent in reusable containers. Please, no packing peanuts. The ACWC will pack each piece in its original packing when available. Artists are responsible for arranging return shipping to the address of origin through their local UPS/FedEx or other shipping offices at the close of the exhibition.

Shipping insurance is the responsibility of the artist. The ACWC will not accept monies for shipping and is not responsible for works lost, stolen or damaged once picked up by the shipper.

 Check your local shipper for prepaid return labels, call tag systems and printable internet shipping
labels.
 Artists may include the return label with the shipment of the work to the Arts Council of Wayne County
or provide the Arts Council with a prepaid label at the close of the exhibition. 
At the conclusion of the exhibit, accepted entries may be picked up at the Arts Council of Wayne County 102 N. John Street Goldsboro, NC 27530, on Saturday, November 16th from 10am-3pm, or Monday, November 18th through Wednesday, November 20th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Artists who wish to have their artwork shipped back to them must provide return shipping fees including insurance.

Juror
Luana Luconi Winner


Luana is a founding member of the Portrait Society of America, an elected Master Circle member of the International Association of Pastel Societies, a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, a lifetime member of the Pastel Society of North Carolina, an active member of several art boards and member of a variety of other national art organizations. Portrait artist, author, lecturer, judge, and favored instructor, Mrs. Winner was educated in Rome, Florence, Switzerland, and the USA. Her portraits of CEOs, Chancellors, Administrators, Government Officials, and Military Officers hang in corporations, universities, government buildings, museums, and residences stateside and abroad. Portraits in public and private collections include:

Brigadier General George Walls, United States Marine, Retired; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kirkland of Jackson Tennessee, sponsors of the Kirkland Cancer Center at the Jackson Madison Regional Hospital and owners of Kirkland Furniture Stores worldwide; Dr. Robert Bartman, Commissioner of Education State of Missouri. North Carolina specific portraits include long-time Commissioner of Agriculture, James Graham; Jim Valvano, Athletic Director, North Carolina State University; Gerhardt Zimmerman, artistic director and conductor of the North Carolina Symphony; and Chancellor James Oblinger, Collection of Retired Chancellors, North Carolina State University. Luana was the first woman to paint a retiring Chancellor since the University was established in 1889. She is the recipient of national and international awards most notably an international Best in Show
from the Richeson Portrait International for an Oil Portrait “Japanese Robe” and an international Silver Award for the International Association of Pastel Societies for the Pastel Portrait “Elizabeth,” and the “Prix du Conseil Général pour l'originalité/créativité” at the Pastel en Perigord, Saint Aulaye, France. She was among only a
handful of American artists to be a part of the invitational Florence Biennale, an international art exposition. Mrs. Winner was granted special permission to work in the secure conservation lab of the NC Museum of Art.
She was commissioned to recreate a direct copy of a 1754 British portrait, a 50 x 40 oil of Prime Minister William Pitt, First Earl or Chatham for the restored Chatham County Courthouse reopened in 2013. In 2014, The Musee du Pastel (Museum of Pastel) in Saint Aulaye, France, added Luana’s portrait “The Classical Singer” to their permanent collection. In demand as a speaker and an instructor, she has served as faculty for the
Portrait Society of America, the International Association of Pastel Societies, American Artist Magazine Art Methods, Pearl Paint Great American Art Event NYC, Learning and Product Expo California and Illinois), the Portrait Society of Atlanta, Richeson School of Art and Gallery, and eastern US museums and art centers. Her Italian painting workshops in Venice, Florence, and Rome are inspiring.  In summer 2014, Luana was a guest instructor for the international pastel exhibition “Pastel en Perigord,” France, and in fall of 2015, she will be working in Spain followed by a two-person exhibition in Tuscany in the Chianti region of Italy. Her book “Painting Classic Portraits: Great Faces Step-by-Step” (ISBN 1440321108 published/distributed worldwide by F+W Media, North Light Books) is a text book for drawing and painting faces, with attention to proportions, planning, and skin color mixtures. The book, now translated into Chinese, is also being distributed throughout Asia. Three additional DVD’s are available - one in watercolor, one in pastel, and one in oil - analyze each individual feature of the face and end with a full portrait demonstration. Luana was one of “Twenty Top Artists Open their Private Studios,” cover story in “Studios” annual edition by American Artist Magazine. Luana’s articles and quotes have appeared in International Artist Magazine, Artist Magazine, American Artist, Art of the
Portrait, Signature, Folio, and regional publications and periodicals. She has authored four workbooks, 8 instructional DVD’s on drawing and painting portraits in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Silver Brushes sponsor three named brush sets, and Strathmore Gray Scale 400 Series Paper pads feature a triple portrait charcoal sketch called “Story Time” on their covers.


Legal Agreement

Eligibility
All artists 18 years or older may submit works for this show. Only original works of art not previously shown at the Arts Council of Wayne County and created within the last two years are eligible. All work to be hung must be professionally framed and/or securely wired. If subject to damage, the piece must be framed under Plexiglas or glass. No clip mounting or saw-tooth hangers will be accepted. Three-dimensional work must sit solidly on a flat surface or be properly mounted for hanging. If works are not adequately prepared for display, they will be withdrawn from display. Hanging pieces must not exceed 4 feet in any direction. While there are no size restrictions on non-hanging items, it should be kept in mind that entries must be transportable and able to be displayed in a conventional-sized gallery. Gallery sculpture must not exceed 100 lbs. Entry fee is $40 (non-refundable) for up to 4 works.
 Liability
The Arts Council of Wayne County gallery staff will exercise the best possible care in handling all works and will not be held responsible for any damage or loss due to any cause. The artist is responsible for the cost of shipping to/from the Arts Council of Wayne County and for shipping insurance. The ACWC reserves the right to refuse any entry and to withdraw any work from the exhibition at its discretion. The ACWC also reserves the right to photograph and reproduce any entry submitted to be used for educational or publicity purposes. At the close of the show, the ACWC will return shipped works in original packaging. All hand-delivered gallery work not picked up by 5:00pm, November 30th, 2019, becomes the property of the Arts Council of Wayne County. The receipt of an entry in the Arts Council of Wayne County’s 40th National Juried Art Show will constitute agreement by the artist with all conditions set forth in this prospectus.
