The University of Alaska Anchorage Hugh McPeck Gallery is proud to present the 34th Annual No Big Heads Exhibition, a national juried self-portrait competition of limited size.

Eligible Entries
The No Big Heads Self Portrait Exhibition is open to all artists. Works must be no larger than 12 inches by 12 inches in any direction, including framing and hanging materials. Gallery management reserves the right to disqualify any works that exceed the size criteria.

Entries must have been completed within the last three years and cannot have been entered into any previous No Big Heads exhibition with the Hugh Mcpeck Gallery.

Limit of two entries per person. Works accepted in all media forms. Weight limitation is 40 pounds. All pieces must arrive ready to hang or display.

Any piece accepted into the No Big Heads 2019 exhibition may not be removed from the Gallery before the close date

No living things, dead animals that have not been processed, or bodily fluids, will be accepted. No physical drugs or alcohol will not be accepted as well.

Awards
$1000 for Best of Show 
$1000 in other cash prizes

Submission deadline is: September 12, 2019.

Entry Fees
Limit 2 entries per person. Fees are non-refundable. General public: $25 per entry; UAA students with current UAA identification: $15 per entry. If you are a student please stop by the Student Life and Leadership office with your Wolf card to receive the Student Discount code. 



Sales
UAA encourages sales of work and charges a 10% commission. If your work is not for sale please clearly mark NFS on your application.

Important Dates

Thursday, September 12th: Deadline to submit entries online using the Café application process.
Monday, September 16th: Notification of acceptance into the final round of jurying.
Monday, September 30th: All submissions due. Ship to arrive by this date or deliver in person to the Hugh McPeck Gallery between 9 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 2nd: Juror Lecture in Fine Arts Building Room 150 7:30 pm. List of final acceptance posted after lecture.
Thursday, October 3rd: Exhibition opens. Reception 5:00-7:00 pm at the Hugh McPeck Gallery. Awards ceremony at 5:30pm. Notification to out-of-state entries of work accepted and/or awards at this time. 
Thursday, October 24th: Exhibition closes.
Friday October 25th: Local artists pick up work between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Wednesday November 6th: Mail-in submissions will be mailed out before the close of the business day.
