 Skagit Artists Fall Show 2019 as part of La Conner’s Arts Alive! Weekend

Please read the entire call carefully before submitting.

Skagit Artists, a 501 c 3 corporation, invites 2d and 3d artists living in Skagit, Whatcom, San Juan, Island and Snohomish Counties of Washington State to submit work for their annual fall show. You do not have to be a member of Skagit Artists to enter. Submitting artists must be age 18 or over. This juried exhibition is held in conjunction with the La Conner’s annual Arts Alive! Show and is a fully sanctioned event of this art celebration. La Conner’s Arts Alive! is a popular venue that attracts hundreds of collectors. The Skagit Artists portion of the show will take place at The Lux Art Center at 603 Morris Street, La Conner, WA 98257

Show Dates: November 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th, 2019; starting Friday November 8th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Opening Reception Saturday November 9th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

Application Information:

Applicants may submit 1 to 3 pieces providing jpeg images for each per Café’s requirements.

For both 2d and 3d, the work submitted and accepted must be the exact work delivered to the show. If the work is a part of an edition then any edition number may be delivered as long as it has not been modified from the example photographed.

SIZE RESTRICTION on 2D work of 110 cumulative inches (arrived at by adding the length of all sides of the work including frame is there is one ) such as a 24 X 30.  Accepted work must be provided with a hanging wire and be ready to hang. No saw tooth hangers please. Submitted work may be any painting media, mixed media, photography or other digital art.

3d work may be any media. Any assembly should be minimal and it is requested that the submitting artist assist. Please inquire if you have large or difficult to handle work.

In addition, each invited 2D artist is welcome to bring one work 11 X 14 or smaller for sale for $150 or less. Each 3D is welcome to bring one “small” work for sale for $150 or less.

All work accepted for the show must be for sale.

We regret that video and installations will not be accepted for this show.

Fees: nonrefundable application fee for the show (no additional fees per entry): members  of Skagit Artists $25, nonmembers $35.

Commission to Skagit Artists for sold work: members 20%, nonmembers 40%. Nonmembers have the option of qualifying for the member commission fee of 20% if they pay and become a member by midnight October 5, 2019, though membership is not required to participate. The fee for membership is $55 and can be paid at Skagit Artists.com.

Important Dates/Timeline

Deadline for applications is 11:59 PM Mountain Time, September 15, 2019

Notifications of accepted work on or before October 1, 2019.  Notifications will be by email.

Delivery of work Thursday November 7, 2019 between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00 at The Lux Art Center. Work must be hand delivered as Skagit Artists does not have a facility to receive shipped work.

Unsold work must be picked up Monday November 11, 2019 between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm. Emergency contact information will be provided to accepted artists if they are not able to pick up their work between those hours.

 

Jurors: Skagit Artists has retained two art professionals to jury the exhibition.

Jody Thompson 

     Jody is the Director and Curator at Hadrian Art Gallery in Bow/Edison, WA. He has organized and staged numerous exhibitions in the Bellingham and Skagit areas. He also grew up in the Pacific Northwest and is always honored to collaborate with local creatives. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University, along with a minor in English, and a Cultural Innovation degree in creative management. He is passionate about modern to post-modern era art theory, construction and wood working, and finding unique avenues for creative expression.  

Anne Schreivogl

As a spontaneous, creative and intuitive artist, Schreivogl seeks to transmit the joy in everyday activities onto canvas. Her whimsical work is primarily in acrylic, though she also paints impressionistic plein air oils.  She recently had a one-person show, Meditative Exuberance, in Spring 2018 at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Her work can be found in the collections of the Seattle Aquarium, Island Hospital, Anacortes Public Library, Lambiel Museum among others.  She formerly was an owner of Insights Gallery in Anacortes.  Past shows she has juried and judged include the Women Painters of Washington summer show, Edmonds Arts Festival Juried Show, Whatcom Art Guild among others.  She finds great inspiration where she lives and paints, with her partner, artist Alfred Currier, in Anacortes, on Fidalgo Island.
