Call Description

Grace Centre welcomes all entries for the 17th Annual Juried Art Exhibit in the Grace Centre Art Gallery.

The show will hang from October 19, 2019 – January 8, 2020 in the Grace Centre Gallery, located at 495 Cardinal Road Mills River, North Carolina.  Our gallery is located in a multi-use building that also houses a church and an auditorium. 

The deadline for application is no later than 9:00 PM EST on Saturday October 5th, 2019.
Our 2019 Juror is Asheville Studio Artist Sondra Dorn.  She is an accomplished multimedia artist who has been featured on the cover of the Laurel and represented at Blue Spiral Gallery. 

APPLICATION TERMS

Application terms are detailed below:

Applicants may apply to this call one time only.  Applicants may submit up to 2 pieces of artwork for the show.  The cost of one piece is $15 and two pieces is $25. (Application to the show is $15 and includes upload of one work sample. A second work sample is $10.)  All profits from submission fees will be donated to charity.

Artwork must be original and created within the last 5 years in any media. 

Both 2D and 3D work is welcomed. The size limit for 2D is 60”x60”.  The size limit for 3D is 24”x24”x24” to fit on our pedestals. Larger 3D pieces can be accommodated if they are self-supporting and can stand freely in the gallery space.  

Artists must sign a liability release agreement upon admission into the show. (Liability release can be read in the “Legal Agreement” section).

JUROR SELECTION

You will be notified of the juror’s selection via e-mail on Wednesday October 10, 2019. If accepted, please deliver your work to Grace Centre Gallery no later than Monday October 14, 2019.  Set drop off times will be Sunday afternoon October 13th  from 4-7 pm and Monday morning October 14th from 9-12 noon.  If one of these times does not work for you, please contact Molly Angel at mollyangelart@gmail.com to make an appointment.   The final adjudication will take place the week of October 14th.  Winners will be announced at the Opening Reception on Saturday October the 19th at 6:30 pm.  Cash prizes will be awarded as follows:

Best in Show - $300

1st Place - $200

2nd Place - $100

Best Emerging Artist - $100

Honorable Mention(s) - no cash award for Honorable mentions

Work Sample Guidelines

JPEG only please

Here's some work sample tips:

-Photograph your work without the frame if possible

-work that has been previously displayed in Grace Centre Gallery will not be accepted

-images of nudity or violence will not be accepted  (art work in this show must be appropriate for viewers of all ages due to the multi-use nature of the building)
