REDEMPTION
Skye Gallery announces a national call to artists for a juried art exhibition showing November 1 through December 7, 2019, in Providence, RI. Gallery owner Jonny Skye (BA Visual Arts, Brown University, MAT Art Education, Rhode Island School of Design) will lead selection of artwork exploring the exhibition title – REDEMPTION.
Deadline: September 20, 2019.
Accepted entries announced September 30, 2019.
Skye Gallery celebrates contemporary art that speaks to our humanity, challenges the dominant narrative, and offers a vision for tomorrow. Skye Gallery does not show work that is nostalgic, reiterates traditional representation, is merely descriptive, or overly abstract. The focus is on the profundity and authenticity of voice spoken through original and moving visual language.
Delivery (shipping) and pick up of the artwork is the responsibility of the artist. All work to be exhibited will need to be on premises by Friday, October 25, 2019. Skye Gallery will promote through press, print, and social media, art and artists chosen as well as plan and fund the opening event celebration and any related follow up events. Art sales are split 50/50. Artist honors the split agreement for 3 months after exhibition. Skye Gallery carries $50K insurance for artwork in its possession.

- In these times of unearthing atrocities and a growing shared conversation about our traumas personal, political and historic, the idea of healing and recovery sometimes feels past our fingertips and humanity’s capacity. This begs the question: What is redemption? What does it look like? Is it possible or just a human construct for the convenience for the ones who wound and institutions that oppress? What is the price to repair? Is there a moral economy?
