JUROR: Juror Richard Michelson is the founder of R. Michelson Galleries, currently celebrating its 40th anniversary year. Art originally exhibited at the gallery now hangs in many of the most prestigious museums in America, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Art Institute of Chicago. Gallery sculptors have created some of our nation’s major memorials, from the FDR Memorial in Washington D.C. to the National Anne Frank Memorial in Boise, Idaho. Specializing in the widest interpretation of representational art, the gallery also has the nation’s largest collection of original picture book illustration. Michelson has handled the work of artists as diverse as sculptor/printmaker Leonard Baskin, photographer Leonard Nimoy, painter Rebecca Leveille Guay and picture book illustrators Jerry Pinkney, Virginia Lee Burton and Mo Willems, among many others.
