IU Kokomo Art Gallery’s Call for Entry:
Representation Matters:
I See Me
Media representation of all religions, genders, races, sexualities, and body types is essential. Without full representation, the narratives of some individuals are missed. We all enjoy the feeling of being connected or relatable to something or someone. It is important to know that we are not alone, and we are able to place ourselves in the skin of the lead role of that action movie or Syfy novel. We enjoy seeing reflections of ourselves in media, whether its social media, television, magazines or even video games. Artists are encouraged to submit work inspired by how their own identities, or identities in general, are depicted in the media. Broad interpretations of the theme of identities in the media are encouraged.
GALLERY: The Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery is located on the IU Kokomo campus. The gallery displays artwork by local, regional, national, and international artists throughout the year. This exhibition will be curated by Art Gallery Director, Tara Scott. There will be a $25.00 per artist entry fee that will be invoiced once the entry is in.
ELIGIBILITY: The exhibit is open to all artists who are at least 18 years of age. Both fine art and new media works are accepted including: painting, drawing, sculpture, prints, photography, digital illustrations, videos, and mixed media. All entries must be original and created within the last two years. The artwork must be no larger than 48” in width measured horizontally. Sculptures should not exceed 11 ft. in height due to gallery space.
All work must be accurately represented in jpeg images. Work not meeting these criteria will not be exhibited.
PRESENTATION: Professional presentation of each piece is required. 2D artwork must be
framed and have a secure way to hang the piece. For canvases, the sides and all staples must be covered. Sculptures should be fully assembled and structurally sound and include detailed installation instructions, if necessary.
DELIVERY & PICK-UP: Delivery and pick-up of the artwork will be the responsibility of the artist. The artist may choose to either personally drop-off and pick-up the work during gallery hours or ship their work to the gallery. If the artist chooses to ship their artwork, then they are responsible for the return shipping, as well as, using a sturdy, reusable package. Any work not picked up 30 days after the end of the show will become property of the IU Kokomo Art Gallery.
SALES: Sales are encouraged the art gallery will receive a 30% commission. The sale of artwork will be between the artist and the purchaser. There is a portion of our contract that you will have to fill out with regards to the sale of your artwork.
