General Information
The Taubman Museum of Art's triennial invites artists working in all media to submit work for consideration. Installation and video proposals encouraged. Work previously exhibited at the Taubman Museum of Art is not eligible. The Taubman Museum of Art's triennial is open to all artists 18 years or older currently residing in Virginia. All artwork must be original and completed within the last 3 years (2017-19). Artists may submit up to three entries.

First Place Award- Solo exhibition in the David R. & Susan S. Goode Regional Gallery
Second Place Award- $700 
Third Place Award- $500

October 7, 2019 – Portal Opens for Submissions
December 13, 2019 at 11:59 PM (MT) – Submission Deadline
February 5, 2020 – Artists Notified of Juror’s selections
March 16, 2020 – First Day Artwork can be Shipped and/or Delivered
April 3, 2020 – Last Day of Accepting Artworks - No exceptions
May 1, 2020 – Guest Juror presents awards and gives a talk at the Taubman Museum of Art
May 1, 2020 – Exhibition Open to the Public
September 20, 2020 – Close of the Exhibition

Rules/Regulations
Our online submission module is the only form of entry into the juried triennial. Through our submission portal, CaFE, please submit your digital images. Digital image files must be submitted in JPG (CaFE Media Requirements).
Artists can submit through the online entry module. The non-refundable submission fee is $40 and $30 for members of the Taubman Museum of Art.

Accepted Entries
Packing and display instructions should be included with every entry. All packing materials must be reusable and properly labeled with Artists Name and Object Title. Please include an identification label with each work. The label should include artist name, title, dimensions, medium and date of completion.

2D artwork must arrive ready to hang. Framed artwork and canvases should be properly fashioned with D-rings and/or hanging wire. If the 2D work is not ready to hang, the artwork can be omitted from the exhibition.

Selected entries may be hand-delivered or shipped. All submissions that are shipped to the museum must have a prepaid return shipping label included. The Taubman Museum of Art is not responsible for the shipping costs of incoming or outgoing artwork.

3-D artist are responsible for delivering and unpacking the artwork before the exhibit and, repacking and removing their artwork from the museum premises after the exhibition closes. If the artist is unable to return, repack and reclaim the artwork, they MUST designate someone who is able. The TMA will not be responsible for repacking 3-D artworks. Video artists accepted must provide TMA with proper instructions on how the artwork is to be displayed and viewed.

If the artwork/s accepted has already been committed to another exhibition and is not available to arrive by the shipping/receiving and drop-off deadline, the artwork can be omitted.

If your artwork is accepted and on display as a part of Homeward Bound, it has to remain on exhibit the entire duration of the exhibition until the artwork is de-installed after September 20th, 2020.
