Dear Artists,
 

Kenektid X Gallery invites you to participate in “Dog Days “ - Art to the Rescue Open Call. This is an open call for illustrators, painters, and photographers based in the US, age 18 or older.

 

Kenektid X Gallery is located in the heart of Manhattan in New York near Times Square. Total 15 artists will be selected and curated to be featured in the exhibition from October 17th through October 19th, 2019. (Opening Reception: October 17th 2019) 

 

OVERVIEW:

The purpose of recruiting artists for this open call is to support Korean K9 Rescue (KK9R), a non profit dog rescue organization that saves dogs from the meat trade, puppy mills, and high-kill shelters in South Korea. The part of the entry fee will be donated to KK9R. There will also be some events that are administered by KK9R (http://www.koreank9rescue.org)

 

This exhibition will be a part of the 16th annual Garment District Art Festival from October 17 to October 19, 2019, and the selected artworks will be exposed during the festival to the public. It will be advertised by brochures, posters, email invitations, as well as a festival website by Garment District Alliance of New York City. (http://garmentdistrict.nyc/arts/arts-festival/) It will also be advertised by KK9R community.

 

This juried exhibition will be judged by the committee members and the founder of Kenektid X Gallery. All submissions must be made directly through CaFÉ (www.callforentry.org)

 

REQUIREMENT:

  • A body of work of each artist must contain 1-5  strong images with a theme of RESCUED OR ADOPTED DOGS. 

  • All artwork MUST be original and not infringe on the copyrighted content of any other party.

  • All mediums are acceptable, but the artwork has to be 2 Dimensional. All artworks MUST be framed and suitable for hanging with wire securely attached. Unframed canvases with wire securely attached are acceptable, but must have finished edges.

  • Each artwork entered MUST be within size specifications. The minimum size per piece is 6”x6”. Maximum size per piece is 18”x24”. 

  • Photographs and digital prints submitted MUST be printed on quality paper at a resolution of at least 300dpi. 

  • Submit minimum 1, maximum 5 images in digital format. Each image file must be in jpeg format with resolution 72 dpi and dimension of 1920 pixels on the long side and not exceeding 5MB. File name must be labeled as such: first letter of your first name_ your last name_title of the piece. (ex. L_Smith_Untitled)

  • Include the following annotations for each image:

  1. Artist’s name

  2. Title of artwork

  3. Medium/Media & dimensions

  4. Description : stories about the dogs of your artworks.

  • The decision will be made based on their digital submissions.

 

SHIPPING & RETURN:

Selected artists will be notified and asked to submit their artworks from their digital submission and MUST ship out directly to Kenektid X Gallery with Return Label envelope. Every artwork MUST be shipped by October 15th. Kenektid X Gallery is not responsible for protecting your works while shipping or they are in our possession during the exhibition. Exhibitors shall consider insuring their own works for the time they are in the gallery or shipping. 

 

ARTIST STATEMENT: 

Provide us with a brief artist statement and biography. (1-2 paragraph)

COMMISSION

All artwork can be for sale with artist’s agreement. Kenektid X Gallery will handle all sales. Artists will receive 60% of the sales price of the work. Kenektid X Gallery will handle sales tax. Payment to artists will occur within 30 days of the close of the exhibition.

REWARDS:

Each selected artist who agreed their artwork to be printed in an artbook published by Kenektid Inc. will receive the artbook. The First-Prize winner’s artwork will be printed on the cover of the book. The artbook will consist of the artworks from the exhibition, and Kenektid Inc. has a right to publish and sell the artbooks. 30% of the profit from selling the books will be donated to KK9R.
