The Aspen Art Museum invites artists from the local community, working in any medium, to apply for the 2019–20 Aspen Art Museum Artist Fellowship. Up to four artists will be selected to participate in this 9-month mentored professional development program.
Artist fellows meet approximately once a month for discussion with the fellowship group, as well as exchanges with visiting artists, museum professionals, curators, and AAM staff. Participants will have the opportunity to create a project in collaboration with museum staff which reflects their experience of learning from the museum and the fellowship.
The fellowship provides recognition and support for artists living in the counties of Pitkin, Eagle, Garfield, Mesa, Delta, Montrose, Gunnison, Lake, and Chafee.The fellowship is intended to strengthen ties between the museum and artists from the local community. Recipients receive a $1000 honorarium.

Application Guidelines
-Only completed applications by eligible applicants that are submitted by the deadline will be considered. The AAM reserves the right to refuse any submission.
-Application Deadline: September 10, 2019, 11:59 pm
-Notification: The week of September 23, 2019
-Fellowship period: September 2019 through May 2020
-There is no fee to apply
Eligibility
-Applicants residing in the following counties are eligible to apply:
Pitkin County: Aspen
Eagle County: Gypsum, Eagle, Avon, Vail, Basalt
Garfield and Mesa Counties: Grand Junction, Parachute, Rifle, Silt, New Castle, Glenwood Springs, Carbondale
Delta, Montrose, and Gunnison Counties: Delta, Hotchkiss, Paoina, Montrose, Gunnison, Crested Butte
Lake and Chafee Counties: Twin Lakes, Leadville, Buena Vista, Salida
-Artists working in any medium are eligible.
-Applicants should not be currently enrolled in a degree program of any kind at an institution of higher learning for the duration of the fellowship.
-Both established and emerging artists are welcome to apply.
-Applicants must show the ability to work independently as well as to participate fully in the collaborative nature of the fellowship.
-Applicant must show that they are at a place in the timeline of their career in which the fellowship would advance their work to the next level.
Program Guidelines
-Applicants must show interest in expanding their current studio practice through the experience of the fellowship.
-Applicant artists must possess the interest and willingness to work collaboratively.
-Artist Fellows must have flexibilty in their schedule to allow participation in monthly group meetings.
-Work created during the fellowship remains the property of the artist.
-The AAM retains the rights to document all components of the fellowship, including the project presentation.
-Artist fellows are expected to attend and possibly participate in other museum programming as much as their schedule allows.
-Applicants must be able to travel to the Aspen Art Museum to attend meetings.
-At the conclusion of the program artist fellows are expected to complete a final evaluation.
