RECENT WORKS 2019

This 39th annual juried art competition featuring artwork created by artists that live or work in Lake County, IL. Work must have been created within the past two years.

Application deadline: Tuesday, September 26, on callforentry.org

ELIGIBILITY:
All artists age 18 or older who reside or work in Lake County are eligible to enter. Non-Lake County residents must indicate their Lake County workplace on the entry form. Artists may submit up to three entries. Submitted entries must have been completed within the last two years. No changes or substitutions allowed. Work previously shown in the Robert T. Wright Gallery of Art is not eligible for this show.

    •    Exhibited Work Picked Up: Tuesday, November 26

MEDIA2D and 3D work is accepted in any medium except for video and animation. All work must be original, never shown in this gallery, and completed within the last two years. Reproductions or copies of original work will not be accepted. Works limited to 72” in any direction. Paintings may be in any medium. All work must be dry and hang wire should be attached to the back. Works on canvas with a finished and presentable edge need not be framed. Works on paper must be framed, under glass or plexi glass (preferred) and have hang wire attached to the back of the frame. Please use black, metal, white or nonornate wood frames only. Sculpture and ceramics may be free-standing or supportable on a base, for entries over 100 lbs. phone 847-543-2040 to make arrangements with the gallery. Multiple pieces as a set (diptychs, triptychs, etc.) are accepted.

AWARDS
Awards will be selected by the juror scoring the entries. Awards will be announced at the opening on Friday, October 18.

LIABILITY
Every reasonable precaution will be taken to safeguard entries from damage. Accepted works will be insured. For insurance purposes, all work must be marked with a value. $3,000 is the maximum insurance coverage.

SALES
Please price your work for sale; work not for sale should be marked NFS. A commission of 35% will be retained by the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art on all work sold.

ENTRY FEE
Entry Fee: 1- 3 pieces/$20. A $5 dollar coupon code can be used by gallery members only, enter the word “recent” in the code box to receive the discount. To recieve discount, gallery membership must be current through the end of the show. Gallery fees can be paid for through the CaFÉ website (callforentry.org) while submitting a show entry.

Mailed gallery membership fees must be received by the Wright Gallery of Art by Monday, September 23. (Allow at least 3 business days for mailed entries to arrive by the deadline.) The jury fee is nonrefundable. Juror’s decisions are final. You may hand deliver your entry fee and membership fee to Donna White in the Communication Arts office, room B213 Make checks payable to the College of Lake County.

DELIVERY AND PICK-UP OF ARTWORK
Deliver accepted work to the art gallery located in the first floor of the Library on Tuesday, October 15 1:30-6:30 pm. Exhibited work must remain in place for the duration of the show. Pick-up for exhibited work is Tuesday, November 26 in the gallery. If you cannot collect your work on this date, please make arrangements with the gallery staff. The gallery will be released of all responsibilities for art not claimed by the specified dates. Submission of the entry form will constitute an agreement to all conditions in this prospectus.

ART LABELS
Accepted entries should have an identification label fixed to the back of the artwork prior to dropping the piece off for the show. A label should be attached securely to the back of the accepted artwork if 2-D, or to the bottom of a 3-D piece. Please include name, address, phone number, email address, title of the artwork, medium, and sale price. Work labeled not for sale should still have a value written for insurance purposes.

RECEPTION
An opening reception, open to the public, will be held on Friday, October 18, from 6-8 pm in the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art, College of Lake County, Grayslake, IL. Live music and refreshments will be featured during the opening. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 9pm, Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, and Saturday, 8 am to 3 pm.

GALLERY MEMBERSHIP
Membership dues of $30 can be paid for on the CaFÉ website (callforentry.org) and can also be submitted by check to the CommArts office, Attention Donna White, College of Lake County, 19351 West Washington Street, Grayslake, IL 60030-1198. *Make entry fee check payable to: College of Lake County.

NOTIFICATION
Artists will be notified by email from about their acceptance to the show by Friday, October 4, 2019.

Artists can also log on to CaFÉ website (callforentry.org) to see their acceptance status by that date as well.
