Ed Fraga, esteemed Detroit based artist, is a recipient of an Adolph and Esther Gottlieb
Fellowship, a Kresge Artist Fellowship, and a Bellagio Center Rockefeller Foundation residency. Fraga exhibits internationally and is included in many public collections including: Cranbrook Art Museum, Detroit Institute of Arts, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Flint Institute of Arts, and Wayne State University.


Submission: $20 for up to 3 images. (Free for Buckham members)

Buckham Gallery invites you to enter Eros & Thanatos, a national competition established to explore the Greek words for Love and Death. Eros, Greek god of love and sex, and Thanatos, the personification of death, have been used throughout western culture to symbolize the driving forces of life, love, sexuality and creativity as well as acknowledging our own mortality. All styles, media, and interpretations are welcome and encouraged.

This exhibition will open February 14, 2020 at Buckham Gallery, in Flint, Michigan.

Details:
● Each artist may submit up to 3 works for $20
● All work must be original in concept
● Submitted images of work must represent its true appearance and not be altered digitally
● Artist must be 18 years of age or older
● Artist must be a resident of the USA
● Submissions must be entered through CaFE by November 23, 2019. Artist will be
notified by December 15, 2019.

Fees:
● The entry fee is $20, and up to 3 works may be submitted for that fee
● All fees must be paid by credit card or PayPal through CaFE site payment platform
● The entry fee is non refundable, nor will it be prorated if less than 3 works are submitted or selected

Selected Work:
● Selected works must be delivered to Buckham Gallery by February 8, 2020
● Artists must cover the cost to transport the artwork to and from the gallery
● All work selected for the exhibition must arrive ready to install. Works not gallery-ready, or not exhibiting good craftsmanship, may be omitted from the exhibit
● Accepted work that differs significantly from the submitted images or suffers from poor
presentation, will be disqualified. Please note that professional-level presentation is a
must
● Work may be hand delivered or shipped. Shipped works must be sent in easily reusable packaging
● Exhibited works will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition
● Works not claimed within 30 days of the end of the exhibit will become property of
Buckham Gallery.

Prizes:
● First prize, $1,000; Second prize, $500; Third prize, $250
● Prizes will be awarded by juror, Ed Fraga, once the show is installed, by February 14,
2020
● Artists will be notified immediately of awards
