Monochromatic: A National Juried Exhibition
A national juried exhibition calling for artists to submit monochromatic artwork. Monochrome is defined as the exploration of one color: varying in shade, tone, and tint of a single hue. All monochrome variations of colors in the color wheel are encouraged. Examples of popular monochrome artists include Yves Klein, Frank Stella, Josef Albers, and Ellsworth Kelly.
Juror: Jason Roth, Co-owner of Ro2 Art
Ro2 Art was founded in 2010 by mother-and-son partners Susan Roth Romans and Jordan Roth. This contemporary fine art gallery is located in the Cedars Neighborhood near Downtown Dallas and represents a diverse group of emerging, mid-career, and established contemporary artists. Ro2 Art has been named Dallas Observer's "Best Art Gallery". The gallery's art fair program has included the Dallas Art Fair, Texas Contemporary, and Art Aspen.
LHUCA is the largest contemporary art center between Dallas/Fort Worth, TX and Santa Fe, NM. This exhibition will be on display for two First Friday Art Trails reaching over 6,000 visitors.
Submission Guidelines:
Accepting artists working in:
painting drawingprints mixed media
collage photography
ceramics books
textiles wall sculptures
wall installations
- Work must be made within the last 5 years
- 2-D work - no size limitations
- 3-D work fitting on a pedestal may be no bigger than 24”
- Only plexiglass is accepted as the glazing on shipped framed pieces. Hand-delivered pieces can have glass.
- Artists must be at least 18 years of age and living in the United States.
Entry fee: $35 for up to three entries
Entry deadline: November 1, 2019
Notification date: November 11, 2019
Artists will be notified via email.
Delivery deadline: November 26, 2019
Return shipping: week of February 3, 2020
Exhibition dates: December 6, 2019 – February 1, 2020
Opening receptions: December 6, 2019 and January 3, 2020
during the First Friday Art Trail 6 – 9 pm

2 Honorable Mention: $50 each
