Printmaking Plus

In conjunction with the Mo’Print, Month of Printmaking Celebration, this National Call for Entries seeks creative, innovative approaches to the process of creating artworks by printmaking. The juror, Master Printer Mark Lunning, brings 30 years of experience working with artists and printmaking styles to select the best examples of current printmaking. Due to the gallery size, works are limited to a maximum of 36” height by 24” width, including frame. Prints (copies) of already made artwork are not accepted.

Printmaking is the process of creating artworks by printing, normally on paper, but can be on other surfaces (not limited to fabric, plastic, wood). It includes intaglio (etching, mezzotint, aquatint, engraving, dry point, collagraph), relief, lithography, serigraph (screen print) and monotype, and uses a stone, plate, block, or stencil to create the final piece of art. The design is created on the matrix, or surface, which is then inked in order to transfer it onto the desired surface. More than one version of the original can be created, as an edition; or a series of monoprints can be created by adding to each one; or just one, a monotype, can be created.

This show will be in conjunction with in the Mo’Print, or extended Month of Printmaking, which has grown to include January – April in Denver, CO. It will be held in Payge Gallery in the Art District on Santa Fe, Denver’s largest Art Gallery District.

The juror will be looking for creative ways to present Printmaking Artwork. Prints (copies) of already made artwork are not accepted.
