2020 LCA Legal Agreement: APPLICATION CONTRACT By making this application, artists agree that if their work is accepted they will abide by the criteria outlined in this Call for Entries, including the following provisions: GENERAL GUIDELINES All artwork displayed at the Sanchez Art Center (SAC) shall be the original work of the artist(s). Pieces must fit easily through standard-sized doors (80” x 35”). All work must be clearly labeled with artist and artwork information. All work must be ready for display (dry, suitably framed with wires, or mounted with attached hardware). Artists are responsible for their installation costs and for providing their own specialty pedestals and/or hardware, as well as for arranging the delivery and pickup of the work at the scheduled dates and times. The work shall be on display for the entire duration of the exhibition dates. Under no circumstances will work be removed from the exhibition before 5 pm on the final day of the exhibition. LIABILITY Sanchez Art Center carries art insurance up to a maximum $150,000 loss per occurrence due to theft or damage to artwork displayed at Sanchez Art Center, subject to a deductible of $500 for which Sanchez Art Center will not be liable. By agreeing to exhibit work at the Sanchez Art Center, the artist agrees to abide by and accept the terms and conditions of said art insurance policy and to release the Sanchez Art Center, its Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and agents; the Art Guild of Pacifica; and the City of Pacifica from any further liability resulting from damage or theft incurred during this exhibit. RIGHT OF REFUSAL The Sanchez Art Center reserves the right to refuse or remove from display any work it considers inconsistent with previously accepted or agreed-upon work. The Sanchez Art Center also reserves the right to remove any work it deems inappropriate for the facility. PUBLICITY The Art Center will cover the costs of printing and mailing a postcard announcement to its mailing list and an email announcement to its email list. The gallery will provide the artist with 20 of the printed postcard announcements and with an emailable announcement. The artists’ own exhibition announcements, press releases, publicity, and displays shall be consistent with the Sanchez Art Center's standards and must be approved by the Executive Director or Program Manager prior to printing and distributing. Accepted artists should email to SAC their artist’s statement and bio/resume/CV for inclusion in an exhibition binder for gallery visitors to look through. LABELS Each artwork should have an identifying label affixed to the back (or bottom if 3D) with artist’s name and artwork title so the curators can identify works easily. Wall labels for works to be displayed will be prepared by Sanchez Art Center, based on the information provided in the application. Corrections may be made by contacting info@sanchezartcenter.org, no later than 5 pm on March 30, 2020. PHOTOGRAPHIC RIGHTS Sanchez Art Center assumes that the artist retains the copyright for all works loaned to the Art Center. The artist agrees to allow the Art Center to reproduce the work for publicity, promotion, and archival purposes. ARTIST RECEPTION A reception will be held on the first night of the exhibition. All food and beverages will be furnished by the Art Center, and the Art Center will provide wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages at the reception as a fundraising activity. No outside food or beverages are allowed. SALES SAC encourages sales. All artwork will be sold as exhibited. Sales tax will be collected. Purchased work shall remain on exhibit for the duration of the show. The Art Center will collect a 30% commission on all artwork sold in the galleries. Artists are responsible for arranging for sold pieces to be picked up or delivered to the buyers. DELIVERY, SHIPPING, and RETURN OF ACCEPTED ARTWORKS Artists are responsible for arranging the delivery and pickup of the work in accordance with the following schedule: SUN, MARCH 29, 2:30–6:30 PM, and MON, MARCH 30, 1–5 PM: Hand-delivered works will be received. MON, MARCH 30: Shipped works must be received by 5 pm. SUN, MAY 17: Pick up artwork, 5 to 6:30 pm. MON, MAY 18: Pick up artwork, 10 am to 12 noon. Shipped work must arrive at SAC by 5 pm on Monday, March 30. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs. Shipped work must be sent with a prepaid return shipping label inside the package. We will re-use your packaging to return works, so make sure it is sturdy. Make sure your shipping company will pick up at Sanchez Art Center, as we cannot deliver packages to shippers. SAC has no storage facility and accepts no responsibility for work not picked up or shipped by the scheduled dates listed above. Work not picked up or able to be shipped (due to artist oversight or error) at the closing of the exhibit will be subject to a storage fee of $10.00 per piece per day. After 30 days, artwork will become the property of the Sanchez Art Center and may be disposed of at the discretion of the Art Center.
