The advent of the DIY and Make movements has forged a continually expanding relationship based on the philosophy of “open source” and has made accessible technologies such as 3D printing, wearable electronics, new media, and digital art, as well as a vibrant interest in the potential of installation and the creation of work that exists as experience and its relationship to the solitary object as a dominant means of expression.
