Exhibition Opportunity
The Florence Quater Gallery at Southwest University of Visual Arts is seeking artwork in any medium for the annual Spark exhibition. Spark is a juried exhibition that showcases the diversity and creativity of artists who have completed their undergraduate degrees and are ready for the next phase of their artistic careers.

Scholarship Opportunity
SUVA also wants to support emerging artists who want to continue their education and attend the MFA Program at Southwest University of Visual Arts by offering two tuition scholarship opportunities:

  • 50% tuition scholarship through four semesters
  • 25% tuition scholarship through four semesters

Eligibility
All artists and designers who have completed a BA or BFA degree in art or design prior to August 2020 are eligible to apply for both the exhibition and scholarship opportunity.

Exhibition Submission Requirements
  • Proof of graduation from undergraduate program.
  • 5 works of art or design in any medium that are available for exhibition between August 24 – September 25, 2020.
  • Image list (include title, date, dimensions and medium).
  • Artist statement.
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae.

Scholarship Submission Requirements
Artists who wish to be considered for the MFA scholarship must submit the following:
  • Graduate Application Form on SUVA’s website
  • Unofficial or Official Transcripts that show date of graduation. Official Transcripts will be required upon acceptance to the program.
  • 15-20 works of art and/or design in any medium. Five works must be available for exhibition from August 24 – September 25, 2020.
  • Image list (include title, date, dimensions and medium), indicating which five works are to be considered for inclusion in the exhibition.
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae.
  • Artist statement.
  • Statement of intent (500 words minimum) for SUVA’s Master of Fine Arts program.
  • Three academic or professional letters of recommendation. Letters must be emailed directly from the letter writer to admissions@suva.edu. Subject line of the email must include "Letter of Reference" and applicant's name. 


Timeline

  • July 12: Deadline to apply for exhibition and scholarship
  • July 17: Selected artists and scholarship recipients announced
  • August 14: Artwork and signed loan agreement delivered to Florence Quater Gallery on SUVA campus
  • August 24: Exhibition opens
  • September 3: Opening reception 5pm-7pm
  • September 25: Exhibition closes
  • October 2: Artwork shipped back to artists


Delivery and Return of Artwork
By participating in Spark exhibition, artist agrees to cover all costs associated with delivery and return of artwork to and from Florence Quater Gallery on SUVA’s Tucson campus.

Terms and Conditions
Participation in Spark exhibition is subject to the terms and conditions of Florence Quater Gallery’s loan agreement.
