Just days later their freshly created artworks are exhibited, awards are assigned, and the art is auctioned to the highest bidders to benefit a local non-profit and the artists.

Required Activities
• Two Outdoor Painting Days: Feb. 23 & 24, 2020 from 10 am to 4 pm
• Delivery of one Framed Artwork for Auction: Feb. 26, 2020 between 10 am and 12 noon

Artists create one original work of art outdoors for the fundraising auction. Each artist is free to choose the subject matter, media and technique that best represents their own style.

OVERVIEW
Third on Canvas is a juried fresh paint event now in its Thirteenth year. Each February forty artists paint on site at pre-determined locations in and around the historic Third Street South district of Naples, Florida. Painting days for the upcoming event will be Sunday, Feb. 23 and Monday, Feb. 24, 2020. Completed and framed “fresh paint” works of art will be delivered to the Third on Canvas 2020 Committee between 10:00 am and 12 noon on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Naples Art located at 585 Park Street. Judges will review the artwork and assign four awards: Best of Show, First Place, Second Place and Juror’s Choice.

A jury of local art professionals will evaluate all entries and select artists for the event. Invited artists will have the opportunity to suggest their top three preferred painting sites or opt for any available site. Artists may suggest locations anywhere in the neighborhood within the following boundaries: Broad Street South to the north, 15th Avenue South to the south, Fourth Street South to the east, and the beach to the west. In addition, a few artists may choose to paint around the City Dock area at Crayton Cove. Painting sites will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Artists will emailed on December 16, 2019 with their assigned painting site.

All works of art will be included in the Third on Canvas auction to be held on Saturday, Feb. 29 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Naples Art. All works of art will be sold to the highest bidder in voice and silent auctions.

Proceeds from the sale of each artwork are divided between the artist and the beneficiary with the artist receiving 40% of the auction amount. Naples Art - Art Business Entrepreneurship Academy is the 2020 beneficiary. Naples Art has been at the forefront of the arts and cultural landscape of Naples since 1954. Naples Art is committed to developing tomorrow’s artists and arts leaders, ensuring artistic expression is accessible to everyone and enriching Southwest Florida through the visual arts. Artists may, if they so choose, donate their full portion of the auction proceeds to Naples Art.
