Deadline Extended - as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic, we are extending the deadline to March 29 so that everyone has ample time to enter.
The National Basketry Organization is announcing our 2nd in-print, biennial exhibition.
Works selected will be published in the Summer 2020 edition of Basketry +, NBO’s full-color magazine.
This year’s theme is Pattern & Texture, defined as a work of basketry that, in some way, celebrates pattern and texture.
Juror: Jo Stealey - Jo is a nationally recognized artist, author and curator, professor emerita and founding director of the School of Visual Studies at the University of Missouri. Focusing on sculptural vessels using basketry techniques and handmade paper, she explores the celebration of personal experiences relating to mundane aspects of life. Her work is found in many private and public collections such as the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery and the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts. She co-curated and edited the traveling exhibition and scholarly catalog for Rooted, Revived, Reinvented: Basketry in America. Website: www.jostealey.com
