ABOUT: Five Points Center for the Visual Arts, one of Connecticut’s premiere contemporary arts organizations, announces the Five Points Annex 2020 Small Works Juried Exhibition.

 

 Exhibition Dates: Friday, February 14 – Saturday, March 7, 2020

Reception & Award Ceremony: Friday, February 14, 2020 - 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Award:  2021 Solo Exhibition in Five Points Gallery, 33 Main Street, Torrington, CT 06790

Juror:
Power Boothe's  paintings can be seen at the Fred Giampietro Gallery, New Haven, CT, He is currently Professor of Painting at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. His artwork is included in numerous private and public collections including, the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the British Museum. His work is also in the collections of the Wadsworth Atheneum, the New Britain Museum, and the Florence Griswald Museum in CT.He was a participant in the Whitney Museum Independent Program and he has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for Painting, a National Endowment Individual Artist’s Fellowship, an Asian Cultural Council Grant for travel in Japan, and he has received a Pollock/Krasner Fellowship.  From 2001 to 2010 he served as Dean of the Hartford Art School. Prior to that appointment he served as Director of the School of Art at Ohio University. He has taught at the School of Visual Arts, the Maryland Institute, and Princeton University.  He has received an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Colorado College and an Honorary PhD in Philosophy from the Institute for Doctoral studies in the Visual Arts.

  • JANUARY 15, 2019  - Notification January 15, 2019 on CaFE and at www.fivepointsgallery.org
  • FEBRUARY 5, 2020 -  Deadline for receiving shipped artwork
  • FEBRUARY 6-9, 2020  - Accepted works due at Five Points 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.     
  • FEBRUARY 14, 2020 - Opening Reception, 6 -8:30 p.m. Award Presentation 7:00 p.m.
  • MARCH 7, 2020  - Exhibition Closes at 5:00 p.m.
  • MARCH 8, 2020  - Pick-up of all work 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • MARCH 16, 2020 - All works with pre-paid shipping sent back to artists.

ELIGIBILITY: Emerging and established artists 18 years or older may apply. Original works in 2-D and 3-D, no larger than 12” in any direction, not previously exhibited in Five Points.

ENTRY FEE: A $35.00 entry fee will be charged for up to three works. VISA, Discover, MasterCard or American Express will be accepted through the CaFE website.

SUBMISSIONS: Five Points will only accept submissions through CaFE. CaFE is an online application and jury management system for calls for entry. Visit
www.callforentry.org and click on HOW TO APPLY and follow the 3 – step process to submit. Entries submitted via email or by direct mail will not be considered

GUIDELINES:                  

  • Up to three 2-D or 3-D recent works, no larger than 12” in any direction   may be submitted per artist.
  • Work requiring assembly or a complex installation procedure must be accompanied by detailed written instructions with reference photos. 
  • Work must be ready for installation.
  • All artwork must be for sale and cannot be removed during the exhibition.
  • The gallery commission on sales is 50%.

SELECTED ARTWORK:

  • Selected works must be delivered ready to hang/install.
  • Artwork misrepresented or considered unsuitable for presentation will be refused.

DELIVERY AND SHIPPED ARTWORK:

  • Deadlines for delivered and shipped works are firm.
  • Delivery of accepted pieces will only be received during the stated days/hours.
  • All work should be labeled with the artist’s name, telephone number, title of work, date, medium, dimensions and retail price.
  • All work must be packaged in a manner that allows the materials to be re-used for return.
  • Any work not picked up on the stated date cannot be stored and will be disposed of as deemed appropriate by the gallery.
  • In the case of inadequate or nonexistent return postage, works cannot be stored and will be disposed of as deemed appropriate by the gallery.
  • Shipped works must be accompanied by a prepaid, return shipment label.

AGREEMENT: Five Points reserves the right to photograph an accepted work for publication and publicity purposes.
